Why are you a Vol fan?

I thought this would be cool to see some good stories.

Mine: I was born in Georgia and have been a lifelong resident here. My father was born and raised in Tennessee. I've been a UT fan since birth you can say.

The fans born here that decided to be Florida or Bama fans are the worst kind of fans.

I grew up in East Tennessee to a family of Vol fans that go way back. I ended up graduating from UT. My great-grandfather played for General Neyland.

Grew up in Knoxville and my dad was a professor at UT.

Born and raised in West Tennessee, family (mostly from the Tri-Cities area) always rooted for Tennessee. Mom even taught for a short time in Knoxville after college graduation.

It's my alma mater. After the last decade that is the only reason I can remember.

I'm loyal to a fault.

Because I literally bleed orange. Once at a rugby tournament, after sustaining some abrasions that were bleeding (I know...shocking), I had an opposing player say, "Oh my God, your blood is orange." I replied, "Of course it is, I'm a Tennessee Volunteer."

Raised in Powell, TN. My parents have always been passionate UT fans. My dad started taking me to games as early as I can remember (was Born in ’83). Dad has been in sales for over forty years so naturally he scalped tickets for extra cash on football Saturdays. He always held a pair for the both of us to attend all the home games when I was growing up. Burgers at Gus’s was a tradition before games. GBO!

Grew up in Ohio with Buckeyes, loved football every since I was a kid. My father was a highschool football ref for 30 years. I used to work the chains and was a ball boy for several games.

Moved to east TN when I was 10, and after some initial apprehension, eventually the passion of Tennessee football got the better of me. I later graduated from UT and worked on the strip at Charlie Peppers for 3 years while enrolled. Those were some awesome Game Day experiences. I LOVE Tennessee football and nothing will ever change that.

Mom's side is from TN. Spent all my summers in west TN.

Pawpaw played for Doug Dickey back in the day.

Dad went to UVA and Mom told me that pu****s root for UVA so I had to root for the Vols.

For dad's sake I made sure I hated Virginia Tech

We moved to Columbus from Knoxville when I was 16 because my dad was offered a better position at OSU. I was so upset when we moved, I despised the Buckeyes. But I tried to give them a chance but never felt a connection. Still a Vol to this day.

I am from East Tennessee and since I was a little boy, The Volunteers were my team. I remember Andy Kelly, Coach Majors, The miracle in South Bend. Not to mention #1 Auburn and big bad Bo rushing for a grand total of about 53 yards. The 90's.... Even after all the s h i t...... I wouldn't trade the memories and idols I had growing up... My kids are VOLS... It is just how they are made. There is a passion this fan base has... It just means more. Go Vols
