I can not for the life of me understand why we have so much trouble hiring a good coach. Some will say it is a money issue but frankly I believe it goes.further than that. I firmly believe it is because our administration has developed the reputation of not being committed to winning.

Dooley had so many issues including the APR when he departed. It was a disaster to walk in to. Butch took it on and with slight of hand bought himself 5 years. When it's completely on his dime he has stumbled.

Or maybe it's a spoiled, petulant fan base with unrealistic expectations?

Seriously....and I was being serious, not everyone wants to live in east tn. Maybe it's a culture thing? Recruiting isn't as easy as it is at other schools. Another possibility is the perception that it's not a stable situation. What will this be....5th coach in 10 years? Yeah I know Kiffin altered the curve with his abandoning the program, but with the coaching changes, turnover at chancellor and AD, the title 9 issue, conflict with the women's programs and the stupid name controversy...well...it doesn't put UT in the best light. Throw in the venom toward Butch, calls to fire everyone short of the governor including the new AD who hasn't been on the job for little more than 6-7 months and hell, I can see a good coach needing to be sold on uprooting his family and moving them to the hills of east TN. Can't you?

Oh and let's throw in the empty Neyland for homecoming and the allegation of playing a concussed player that likely will be a huge national story with an equally damaging lawsuit if true. Yeah, Knoxville is a great opportunity right now. Hard to imagine someone not wanting to be a part of something so great.

Saban was just the next guy in a long line of successful hires right? UF has been knocking it out of the park too

You should compare CBJs record to the other power 5 coaches hired in the same time frame, you might change your tune.

Stupid AD. Idiot fired Fulmer and replaced him with a punk, mistake #1. Punk left after 1 year and stupid AD panicked and tried to save the recruiting class and hastily hired a nobody, mistake #2. Mistake #2 turned out to be a POS which required his firing and left Tennessee in a dumpster fire looking for it's forth coach in as many years and we get Butch Jones.

So here we are after 10 years looking for salvation.

Like most companies that fail poor management is often a common thread.

I can't like this enough. This is the truth.

Why would a coach want to take this all on? Besides one trying to make a name for themselves.

We have a fan base that turns to "holding my breath" hashtag movements.

Alabama was extremely lucky to get Saban. Only took them 5 coaching failures if you count being left at the alter with RichRod. Meyer was bracketed by Zook and Muschamp, two real winners there. Wonder what life would have been like if Rodriguez sticks with Bama? If only....

UF runs the table in 2009, beats Texas in the Rose Bowl. Tebow goes out winning consecutive NCs and his 3rd in four years, cementing his legacy as the greatest college football player of all-time.

(end dream sequence)

We don't pay enough/low-ball candidates and our administration has reputation for not providing support comparable to our rivals.

That's why we strike out with almost every hire in almost every sport.

Apparently we spend about a quarter of football revenue on the program while Bama spends over 50 percent of revenue on their program. That's the answer. Vol leadership does not care about winning.

Probably (lol). I forgot to mention the part in my dream where the Ohio State job opens up and Meyer goes to the Buckeyes in 2006 (smile).

Oh yeah, those pesky, spoiled rotten Vol fans, with unrealistic expectations. The same as every other Power 5 fan base.

It’s all their fault .......boo hoo
