Why are we so dang brittle?

It's completely mystifying. I thought last year was the worst if ever seen, but this is even worse.

Heard it' has a lot to do with weight room & focused on speed only practices under Butch "the program hatchet" Jones

Players were allowed to slack off during conditioning but then were required to do full speed practices on Fridays before games. So you have unconditioned players getting tired and tired football players get hurt.

Maybe so, but have you ever seen so many different injuries all at once?. It's crazy.

No I have not and Tim Priest said the same thing on the radio. I really think it goes back to Butch. His coaching style and the assistants he has brpught in. Rock has only been here since January. Hopefully he can turn things around sooner than later.

10 different S&C coaches in 10 yrs. last yr was a complete waste. Program in past hasn't demanded players develop .

I don't know about the injuries. May be unlucky, but as far as being physical goes, it's pathetic.

You take on the identity of your coach and the guy running our show was SOFT. Mentally and coaching wise.

Could it be the turf?

We've been riddled with injuries the last three years. During that same time our field has been crap. I'm assuming (possibly stupidly) that the practice fields are the same turf as Neyland.

I'm sure there are those on Volnation more educated than me about such matters. Could our field be a significant factor in the number of injuries we're seeing?

I would buy that if the turf was the safe all across the league. Since we have multiple players getting hurt every game no matter where we play. I'm going to side with either We're just cursed, or we have horrible conditioning and our players are soft.

Stop.

The field conditions were good this year. UT is out of position, out of shape, poor fundamentally, and no serviceable depth, which leads to lots of injuries.

Turf could have a little to do with it. But the main problem is Butch Jones. He brought a little league aporoach into the big leagues. We are now reaping those rewards.

Failure to rotate players. Failure to develop young players. Poor game plans. All that will change moving forward with a real coach.
