Why are we so behind/lacking commitments...

Anyone who is worried about your recruiting with this staff, whether it be 2011 or 2012, is seriously walking too close to the edge. Even worse, you might get a 3 star commit from a solid football player, and you would have the same fans furious because "3 Star Dooley" is at it again and "the kid isn't a 4 or 5 star talent we need".........all while in the same breath screaming you are behind in recruiting and wondering who the next commit is because you are falling behind. The man can't win.

You have a tremendously talented staff that can recruit with any staff in the country, on top of an already loaded roster of young talent. You guys will be fine.

Sure:
vs. Montana Knoxville, Tenn.
vs. Cincinnati Knoxville, Tenn.
at Florida * Gainesville, Fla.
vs. Buffalo Knoxville, Tenn.
vs. Georgia * Knoxville, Tenn.
vs. LSU * Knoxville, Tenn.
at Alabama * Tuscaloosa, Ala.
vs. South Carolina * Knoxville, Tenn.
vs. Middle Tennessee State Knoxville, Tenn.
at Arkansas * Fayetteville, Ark.
vs. Vanderbilt * Knoxville, Tenn.
at Kentucky * Lexington, Ky.

Why does everyone fear Arkansas? Their offense was potent last year and Knile Davis returns, but they need a QB. Also, their defense wasn't stingy at all.

Can someone shed some light on this for me?

Well, I am removed from the situation. For whatever reason, alot of Vols can't see some of these things I listed and I don't know why.

You guys are in good shape. The sky isn't falling.

exactly... one or two more classes like we signed this February and we will be back to having the depth and talent it takes to compete in this league.

This year is gonna be good, we gonna upset some favorites and have a heck of a season.
We have alot of high character, hard working, HEADHUNTERS. CJW will have his D installed and players will know whats expected. Gonna surprise some people! Just look what he did at Boise ST. with smaller less talented players.

I admire your optimism, but Boise State beating Wyoming on the road is different than going to Florida, Alabama, etc and winning............

I think its they way the coaches recruit. They want recruits to be 100% sure when they committ, and encourage them to consider all options before committing. Then when we do get committments, they are solid and they don't have to worry about guys reneging near as much; like last year.

so i didnt see the threads a few weeks back - cdd can recruit.period. That should be the thing we are concerned least about. Organization, mistakes at critical junctures, this you could argue about with CDD but the man can recruit.

lack of top in state talent, not being able to offer as much PT as you could in the last 2 classes, cdd taking a slower/know the player approach, all lead to lackluster start

he will will close and it will be another top15 class - 3 straight top15 classes mean enough talent to compete with anyone once you see a team more balanced toward upperclassmen

keep the faith!
