The guy went 7-6 two years in a row (in the Big Easy) and I get it, he's 9-0 right now. But please, seriously look at the teams Louisville has played this year. Look at who remains on their schedule.

CDD would be 9-0 playing that schedule too. Not a single ranked opponent. I'm not saying keep CDD, but I don't get why people think Strong will come here and do any better.

This year, he has beat everyone who they asked him to play...what more do you want?

I dont think that Charlie is the best coach out there. However, I do think he might be the best coach who will actually come to Knoxville in 20 days from today.

1. Charlie Strong is a great recruiter.
2. Charlie Strong has proven he can shut down SEC offenses.
3. Charlie Strong took over a wreck at Louisville and has won.

Having said that, he is in my 2nd tier of candidates, but to act like it's such an awful choice is ridiculous.

Because he took over a team that was 4-8 before he got there and has them at 9-0 in 3 years?

Can't ask for a much quicker turn around than that. Blame it on them being in the big east all you want, they were in the big East all 3 years prior to him getting there as well and managed to go 6-6, 5-7 then 4-8.

Louisville was headed straight down the ****ter and now they're sitting undefeated.

Ok Charlie is the benchmark. Give us a name you think is better who will actually come to Knoxville...(not Bob Stoops, Vince Lombardi, Bill Cowher, etc)

Go back three years and ask yourself that same question. 4-17

He has been a coordinator at a big school. He has proven he can go to another school and win. CDD had a losing record before he came to TN. He is an up and comer which I think TN will get more bang for their buck early on. Plus he's a defensive mind.

All valid points, but he did not have alot to work with when he got there. Now he has been able to do his own recruiting and the results are coming to fruition.

With that said, he is not at the top of my list either, but I would be okay with his hiring. :twocents:

They're undefeated until they play a SINGLE one of the teams we have lost to this year, and they're done.

I agree. Strong might be a good coach for us, but he may not be. Not exactly the can't miss kind of coach most of the people on this board have been screaming for.

I hope he isn't the best we can get, but it won't surprise me.

Yes, if he uses big east talent against SEC talent, he's going to lose most games. That's not the point. He's turned around a program that was going dead, even in the big east.

You give him SEC talent, what could he do? I'd imagine good things.

Proof he can beat top tops? What would his record be if he had played, Ga, Bama, USCe, Fl, and Miss St? I'm not saying he won't be a good coach but its fair to question a record vs those teams. Cincinnati being the best win I guess. Record does not say all. But I do think he deserves consideration just not in the first few. :dunno:

Why is it fair? His team is not in the SEC, he does not have the resources to recruit at an elite SEC level, etc... A fair comparison is what would he have done with this team? I guarantee you he wouldn't have given up the amount of points we have seen this year.

It's fair because its a good record against bad teams. Strong supporters will says it great, his detractors will says its meaningless, those of us in the middle think its a part to be considered.

I would have to see Strong do this another year for him to be a top candidate. Louisville's schedule has to be one of the weakest in the country. Kentucky is not a top win imo.
