It takes years to build relationships with these players + the negative recruiting from other teams has been going on for years as well. The defense must be improved statistically, we have very good coaches, but the defensive side must catch up with the offense as it relates to numbers. Winning doesn't hurt, but it is how UT wins, right now the DC and staff have to find a way to excel without 4 and 5* players. I see it getting way better in <3 years, they'll get there. Go Vols.

More 5 stars with offers from UGA and Alabama are choosing other schools this year then in the past decade, I'd imagine when this class is all said in done we will be in good standing, NIL and playoff expansion yas only just started to rebalance and distribute talent

Keep getting players drafted into the league. It was a shame that Hooker and Tillman both had injuries that probably moved them from the first to third rounds this cycle

Tennessee is 2 weeks out from a major NCAA violations probe ending & people expect 5 stars to be lined up. Gotta love some of you people

They key is coaching up them high 3 and 4 stars that are the main makeup of most teams along with the few 5 star players one has. Getting the most out of what you got is the key.

Since he has become a coach, Huepel has mostly built most of his teams with 3 star talent. He hasn't had the luxury of a ton of 4 or 5 star talent. Yet, he has had top 10 offenses in multiple seasons and an overall coaching record of 46-16.

What he has recruited up until this point and has on the roster is the most talent he has ever had. There is no reason to fret. With Huepel in charge we only get better from here.

While I do agree with you, Freeze has already flipped 2 5* and he hasn’t coached a down at Auburn yet.

nothing is absolute and my statement was too absolute. should have said the major thing that brings better talent. Freeze has shown success in the SEC at a place not considered upper echelon of the SEC. Plus, he knows how to recruit and has recruiters. JH still having to prove his recruiting abilities but as I said, he is particular about who he takes and not all 5 stars fit his profile. Does that approach need to change? time will tell. with Bates, he shows he will not over spend to get someone.
