Whos the one team you want UT to play and why?

UT and Bucks have a home and home set for 2017-2018 already I believe. I dont understand where the incredible hate for OSU comes from on this board. I know they have gotten blown out in the last few NC games, and they definitely didnt deserve to be in the 07 game (just like we didnt really deserve to be in the SECCG that year, but the chips fell just right). Everyone says they are "overrated" each year.....but they do always have a lot of talent, and they are the ONLY Little 11 team that actually plays a touch game out of conference consistently....and on the road at that (see Texas and USC lately). I know that we tend hate schools " up north" simply because of their location, but I think OSU deserves at least a little credit for what they have accomplished this decade. Their fans are crazy about their team just like we are, and the gameday atmosphere, while not on the level of UT IMO, is pretty great. The only season they started out highly ranked was 06, and they went undefeated in the regular season. Overrated to me means being ranked higher than they deserve.....but I dont know of anyone who would think their talent doesnt deserve a top 10 to 15 ranking like they will get this year.

blasphemy.

Ohio State just because they are always so overrated, we might as well get over credit for beating them.

What season have they started out ranked higher than they obviously deserved? Thats "overrated" IMO. I think they get crap for backing into the NC game in 07.....but there were a TON of things that just fell into place for that to happen....the SAME type of things that happened to get us into the SEC Title game that same year, and get a 2-loss LSU team into the NC game. I love UT.....I just dont get the hostility for all things OSU. They are the only Little 11 team that actually plays a Top 5 team out of conference most every year. Not trying to get flamed here guys.....just wondering what facts everyone is basing their hate of OSU on.

No hostility intended. Just an honest opinion.

They just seem to get more press for nothing for doing nothing over the last few years. What is there record against SEC teams? Nothing more, nothing less.

I feel ya bro. I guess cause OSU's always in the media, people love to hate em, like ND. The thing I hate the most though is saying they choke in big games or get blown out in BCS games.

Florida, yeah they choked/didn't get off the bus.
LSU, they shouldn't have been in and weren't expected to win anyway.
USC, their best player was out and their offense, with a terrible QB, self-destructed.
Texas, they barely lost to a team that should've been in the NC.

I think the biggest thing is that the Big Ten has been down the last 3-4 years without any other real contenders except maybe Michigan or PSU every few years.

Michigan for sure...just to keep the over rated Big 10 in check and their faithful fan base that fled the god forsaken state quiet!

Michigan.....want to visit their stadium.
Texas....want to see our orange vs. their burnt orange.
Miami...want another trip back to South Florida...had a great time there on our last visit.
Notre Dame.....it's a classic match-up. Love to visit their campus.
Washington....have always wanted to visit Seattle.

That wasn't just a rumor, there was definitely some real discussion of that around 1999 and again in 2005.

Apparently we turned down a $4mil guarantee in 99, and a $20mil in 05.

From what I remember being reported on the Sports Animal several years ago.

UT approached Bruton Smith in 2005 and told him to show us the money and he could not do it. He wanted to control all of the TV money for the game which was not available due to being tied up in a contract with the NCAA and SEC.

The only way to watch a game in Bristol would be on TV since the closest seat to the field would probably be about 75-100 yards away and the endzone seats would be even further. Ask fans that have sat in the endzone at the Rose Bowl what a great seat that is?

He was betting with money that he did not have. There has been a strange silence about Bristol since this meeting occurred.

It's because there are a lot of Ohio State fans who have moved down south, and to a man they are jackasses about how awesome they think Ohio State football is. Sorry.

This what all these people who want us to play VPI in Bristol do not understand. I took some measurements in Google Earth last year when this came up again, and the absolute closest 50-yd-line seat would be over 100 yards away. The closest end zone seat would be over 200 yards away. Some of the upper-deck seats would be over 800 feet away, which would be like watching a UT game from the parking garage at the UC. The whole idea is just ridiculous. The best seat at Bristol would be crappier than the worst seat in Neyland.

They could do it, and for $20m I don't doubt that Mike Hamilton would, but I can't for the life of me figure why anybody would want them to. You'd be paying $40 to sit and watch the game through binoculars.

Texas would be who I would most want to see Tennessee play. But for my own personal reasons, Illinois would be the 2nd most team I would want UT to play.

everytime they say how great ohio state is I just ask em how many times does an SEC team need to beat them in the NC game?

Southern Cal would be my choice.

texas. hands down...texas. i hate the UT thing and the Orange. Living in Big 12 country is annoying when everyone responds to my Tennessee gear like this, "Oh, so you like Texas." On my grooms cake for my wedding I had a TENNESSEE HELMET...how obvious is that? Not even close to a Texas helmet...and people still said to me..."Oh a Texas fan." I want to burn Texas to the ground.
Here is how you handle University of Northern Mexico fans. Two sentences, then turn and walk away.

"No, I'm a fan of the REAL UT (put emphasis the word REAL).
Tennessee was UT, when Texas was Mexico."

You can throw in this little tidbit if you so desire.

"You know the good part about all those executions in Texas? Fewer Texans." ~ George Carlin

Va Tech, living in upper E TN and working in SW VA, seeing all the Hokie parahernalia makes me sick. It would also be nice to settle the real UT thing with Texas.

Georgia Tech - lot of history in an ancient rivalry that at one point nearly eclipsed the Third Saturday.

West Virginia - Their Mountaineer and our Davy Crockett on the same field might get a bit confusing.
.

Both solid choices. My father is a WVU grad, so it would be cool for me to go to the home and away game with him... Georgia Tech is an old SEC foe that would be a pretty fun game imo. I'd also add; Texas, Va-Tech, Pitt (for some reason, I can't stand dave wanstache), Clemson, Michigan, TCU, Texas A&M and finally Tulane...

Ohio State. I've got a good buddy that is a big ohio state fan so I'd love to whip up on one of their #1 ranked teams. Also though it will likely never happen I'd love to see UT-VT in Bristol
