Ok, here it goes.
1. This class rankings stuff is great and all, but I don't care where they were rated coming out of high school, Muschamp's offensive signees are as useless as air brakes on a pregnant turtle. As I have said previously, at some point you judge players by what they do on the field. Antonio Callaway was a 3 star recruit and he is the best skill position player Florida has had since Percy Harvin.
Luke Del Rio hasn't played a down yet and he will become the best QB Florida has had since Tim Tebow if he can accomplish the simple goal of not being absolutely terrible and being able to start more than 6 games. Florida was dead last in yards per rushing attempt in the SEC last season. Now, I can go man for man and position by position, but there is nowhere for this group to go but up. Year 2 with a roster full of people who have been in the system, now have a clue and aren't getting beaten out by guys who transfer from Fordham is a positive. While the class rankings, class rankings, class rankings mantra can be echoed over and over.....damn near every school in the country with recruiting classes ranked who knows where have put better offenses on the field than Florida.
As the turds left behind by Muschamp get flushed, things will continue to improve....starting this season.
At some point, you guys have to be consistent. You can't "lol" and mock Florida for how bad they suck on the offensive side of the ball and not find it probable
(settle for possible?
)that improvement is likely. How can the Florida offense be worse? How can field goal kicking at Florida be worse?
2. As far as the defense is concerned, I went looking for impartial sources so as to get an outside opinion of the situation that you all will find credible. In every 2017 NFL mock draft I could find, Tabor and Davis are 1st round draft picks. I have even seen a couple of mock drafts that have Marcus Maye selected in the 1st round. While that may be too high, he will be drafted. Caleb Brantley, Quincy Wilson and Bryan Cox will also be drafted. This does not include CeCe Jefferson who will be drafted when eligible. It is a solid, solid group.
Again, this is not a championship caliber club. I am not making that claim. Nor am I saying that this club is better than Tennessee.
But, I know Florida's roster.
I know what they had before and what they have now. They are better now.
