who's predicting a double digit win over UF

I didn't say that he did... but his statement that they are either better in parts or a year older in others can be said about most college teams including Tennessee. That's not insight. His argument that they won't miss Hargreaves is also highly debatable. I'm glad he's gone.

You surely implied it. He's was talking about Florida and only Florida and then you said the same could said about Tennessee or any other team. IMHO, he was making no comparison and you responded as though he had. No big deal, just didn't quite understand your response.

Had they not taken the TO and a fake happened the same would be saying "he had time outs and didn't use them". I've seen many, many coaches take a TO in that situation.

Do you not read? Someone already pointed out that UT should have already been in FG safe considering the distance of the kick and likelihood of a fake.

Why do you struggle so badly acknowledging pretty obvious coaching shortcomings from Jones?

BS! You're not ish!! You're here because of one African-American player, not because you have ANY affection or allegiance to the program or university. I've been a diehard Tennessee fan much longer than you've even been alive son.

And then when you were flipping off the program and university because Brent Schaeffer wasn't playing and then pulling for other teams altogether because they weren't winning, I was living and dying with them year after frustrating year.

You're evidently not smart enough to discern the point being made. You have NO EARTHLY IDEA about our series with Florida, NONE, since you're not a fan and haven't witnessed/lived through it.

I'll be pulling for Tennessee, my Alama mater (and the soon to be alma mater of my first child) to beat the ever loving ish out of the Gators again this September, just like I have nearly every year since 1976.....while all you'll be doing is hoping against hope that Dobbs' passing numbers are good so you can come on here and pound your chest.......that's the extent of your "fandom". You know it, I know it....everybody on VN knows it. Your arrogance knows no bounds.

Id bet money that you have road rage issues. I'm a fairly new poster but long time reader. D4H is not worth having a heart attack over.
Take a breath, and ignore.

- Florida's 2012 recruiting class was rated #4 in the country by 247s composite rankings. Those guys are now almost all gone.

- Florida's 2013 recruiting class was rated #3. And most of the highest rated guys from that class(i.e. Vernon Hargreaves, Kelvin Taylor, Keanu Neal, and Demarcus Robinson) are gone to the NFL.

- Their 2014 class was rated #9. Those guys will be juniors this season.

- Their 2015 class was rated #21. They will be sophomores this season.

- And finally their 2016 class was #13. They will be freshmen this season.

I don't know how you can lose 2 top 5 classes and replace them with class outside the top 10 and expect to be better.

I think this is wishful thinking by Florida fans similar to the wishful thinking of Vols fans the last 7-8 years in thinking that you can compete with subpar talent.

I think Florida takes a step back this year. They were significantly more talented ON PAPER last season.

Ok, here it goes.

1. This class rankings stuff is great and all, but I don't care where they were rated coming out of high school, Muschamp's offensive signees are as useless as air brakes on a pregnant turtle. As I have said previously, at some point you judge players by what they do on the field. Antonio Callaway was a 3 star recruit and he is the best skill position player Florida has had since Percy Harvin. Luke Del Rio hasn't played a down yet and he will become the best QB Florida has had since Tim Tebow if he can accomplish the simple goal of not being absolutely terrible and being able to start more than 6 games. Florida was dead last in yards per rushing attempt in the SEC last season. Now, I can go man for man and position by position, but there is nowhere for this group to go but up. Year 2 with a roster full of people who have been in the system, now have a clue and aren't getting beaten out by guys who transfer from Fordham is a positive. While the class rankings, class rankings, class rankings mantra can be echoed over and over.....damn near every school in the country with recruiting classes ranked who knows where have put better offenses on the field than Florida. As the turds left behind by Muschamp get flushed, things will continue to improve....starting this season.

At some point, you guys have to be consistent. You can't "lol" and mock Florida for how bad they suck on the offensive side of the ball and not find it probable that improvement is likely. How can the Florida offense be worse? How can field goal kicking at Florida be worse?

2. As far as the defense is concerned, I went looking for impartial sources so as to get an outside opinion of the situation that you all will find credible. In every 2017 NFL mock draft I could find, Tabor and Davis are 1st round draft picks. I have even seen a couple of mock drafts that have Marcus Maye selected in the 1st round. While that may be too high, he will be drafted. Caleb Brantley, Quincy Wilson and Bryan Cox will also be drafted. This does not include CeCe Jefferson who will be drafted when eligible. It is a solid, solid group.

Again, this is not a championship caliber club. I am not making that claim. Nor am I saying that this club is better than Tennessee.

But, I know Florida's roster. I know what they had before and what they have now. They are better now.

We have a history. You're right though, he's not worth a response, just hit me wrong. Been a loyal lifelong fan for 40+ years....just struck me wrong.

Btw, I'm fairly calm behind the wheel, reasonably courteous, routinely defer to other drivers even when I have the right of way....10 and 2 all day long 😁

Recruiting classes aren't everything lol. Nor does it mean how well of a roster you have. UF is an all-around better team. UT's 2012 team was more talented than our 2013 team, but our 13 team was arguably just as good because of a better defense and run game. Heck, our 2012 team was more talented than our 2014 team since our 2014 was made up of freshman. That 2014 still had a better all-around roster and would beat the 2012 team tho

Ok, let's look at it this way for a moment....

Florida lost quality players to the NFL.....Tennessee didn't. Tennessee returns all of their key pieces.....Florida doesn't. Tennessee has an established QB.....Florida doesn't.

Therefore, if we were to put a number on things, from 1 - 100 (amount of improvement that is) If Tennessee was a 55 last September, then I would put them at an 85 now. If Florida was a 60 Last September, I would put them at about a 65 or 70.

Florida may have improved some, but Tennessee will be more improved, and have more overall talent.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda. There are a ton of Sunday morning coaches in here. Its easy to sit back and say what should have been done.

The facts are people need to stop blaming ONLY Butch for the UF loss. Why do people seem to only focus on Butch's coaching mistakes and ignore the players huge execution mistakes?

I wasn't talking about if Tennessee will be improved or not, or who's more talented lol. Idk why you said that, I think Tennessee is more talented, and wins.

Jones has systematically removed monkeys from our collective backs. He sent spurrier out on a losing streak, last year he beat UGA and Mizzou whom we had losing streaks to.

This year comes the biggest monkeys to date, UF, the SECe, and hopefully Bama too.

I think we remove the Florida monkey with a resounding victory.

If we win this game I think we go 3-1 over that 4 game stretch. If we lose this game I think we go 0-4 over that stretch. Momentum is huge and this game either puts it on our side or destroys it
disagree. one thing CBJ's teams have not had issues with is giving effort. they haven't always gotten the results...but they've always provided effort, even after heartbreaking losess....

for me, i find nothing wrong with your post. in fact, it sounds a lot like how we felt heading in to last season....eerily similar in fact...with the only difference being that i think your defense is anticipated to be better than ours was.

I judge teams based on wins and losses.

Not paper rosters.

So Houston, Michigan, Oklahoma State, Navy, Michigan state, Iowa, and anyone with a better record would have all beat us last season? Also, bowling green went 10-4, so they were better than us too? Oh, Northwestern had a better record than us too.

That's a very, very bad way to judge a team

I saw the spread came out at Vols -12.5. I would take Vols to cover.

For the halftime bet, probably Vols -6.5, I might actually take Florida. I suspect it will be close at the half, with Vols putting the pedal to the metal in the second half and cruising away. But, I probably wouldn't bet the half on this one. I am very confident in covering the -12.5 for the game, though.

The first game I took my youngest son to was and overtime win at Neyland over Florida on a nationally televised game. As we were walking out of the game which we won the fans carried a goalpost with accompanying $100,000 camera. My son looked at me and asked dad are all these games like this. PRICELESS

I'm taking my daughters to their 1st game, the FL game, this year. Hoping for a similar experience!!

Irrelevant. Football requires coaching and player execution. They both have equal weight in the outcome of a game. But if you want to foolishly blame Butch more, its your right to do so.

Butch was in charge at the time. I'm glad he turned the team over to the Captains. They made a good choice in Captains for the year.

Go Vols!
