Who's Better: 2009-10 or 2013-14 Team?

This years team has better chemistry and is more mentally tough (something they gained from CCM). I think the talent level on both teams is a push, but this years team wins because of those two traits.

I think Maze is an advantage over Barton and Stokes is a huge advantage over Williams. Chism is better than Maymon too.

It would be an interesting matchup for sure.

Hopson < McRae
Prince < Richardson (better all around)
Chism > Maymon
Williams < Stokes

2010 bench > 2014 bench

Imo the 2014 team would beat the 2010 team. Maze was the better pg but I think Barton would defend him really well. Richardson could keep Scotty under 10 points or less and would have a couple steals. JP would guard McRae well and would most likely lead in scoring for the 2010 team. Hopson would no show and Maymon/Stokes would Keep Chism below 10 points and would own the boards. 2010's bench would score more with Tatum, Goins, Hall over Reese, Thompson, Moore.

Maze very slightly better than Barton over the entire year
McRae slightly better than Hopson (mainly on the defensive side of the ball and much better attitude)
Richardson better than Prince (JP had too many TOs and Richardson has a much better 3 pt shot and mid range jumper)
Chism better than a Maymon with a reconstructed knee
Stokes is a lot better than Williams and Williams was a good player

With the way JRich and Stokes are playing right now, I'd have to side with this year's team to take 2 out of 3. It would definitely be a battle, but I've never seen anything like the way Stokes has been playing in a long, long, time.

I miss watching chisim play, I'll never forget watching Brian Williams air ball those two free throws against MSU.

I'll take 09 over this team but it'd be very close.

I wasn't actually trying to be an a-hole, though in hindsight I should have phrased it better.

I should have basically said the same thing that SJA said.

What? More mentally tough? Have you seen this team win a close game?

Did you watch the 2010 team win countless close games over high-ranked opponents?

I think the current squad has advantages with McRae, Richardson, and Stokes. I would give the nod to Maze, but this team doesn't need Barton to get to the rim and score much. Barton has handled the ball very well, as of late. Body of work, I'd give Chism the advantage...but we are seeing flashes of the "old" Maymon lately, which is a good thing.

2009 team wouldn't want any of the 2013 team if it was playing in current (NCAAT) form.
