I think that anyone who claims that the polls this year are anything less than a crapshoot is lying. At this point I don't think there is anyway of knowing who is number...I would love to see a playoff this year..

If it winds up something like USF against B.C. People will be screaming for a playoff.

Off the top of my head I would say who they played but then the same could be said for tOSU and the Big 10.

This column, all by itself, demonstrates why basing a so-called national championship on opinion polls is ridiculous.

That may be true, but it is kind of hard to argue with USF half way through the season. They are undefeated in a BCS conference, knocked of everybody's darling WVU to take control of it, and stepped OOC to beat a tough SEC opponent in a hostile atmosphere. About the only bad thing you can say about them is that they really sucked up until about 3 years ago.

There is still a lot of football left to be played though. We are only half way through the season, and there are at least 8 teams who still have a fairly legit shot to win it all.

why? if they're undefeated, representing two BCS conferences, what's the problem?

Fans of all the major schools will gripe that neither team played a tough enough schedule, but right now USF's is I believe the #7 schedule. If it ends in that region and they are undefeated, it would be hard to argue that they don't deserve a chance to win it all.

Wonder what the odds were on that at the beginning of the year? On a lark when out in Vegas I did buy a ten dollar ticket on South Carolina at 60 to 1. They are currently down to just over 9 to 1 on one site I saw.

i would expect some to do just that. but it irks me when people get this uppity attitude like USF or BC aren't deserving. as you said, USF has played a fine schedule and beaten everyone on it thus far. should they continue to do that, then they're in, and i'd have no problem with it whatsoever.

BC, well, that may be a bit more understandable, because the ACC sucks. but would anyone say that if it were Miami, FSU, Clemson or VT in BC's shoes right now? i think not.

those kinds of responses just tell me that the name on the helmet means more than what they acutally did on the feild. this year is the first year in a long time where it doesn't feel like a beauty contest in the polls. teams are actually being rewarded and penalized for winning and losing, and i for one am all for it. in the end, it's good for college football to have this kind of parity.

and as for a play off.....what do you guys think we're right now? the SEC E is in a 4 team playoff right now. the SEC W is in a 3 team play off. the pac 10 is in a 3 team play off. the big 10 is in a three team play off.

we're in one. and this is what makes college football so great.

Whether they are the only 2 undefeated teams or not...do you think they are the best 2 in the country?
doesn't matter what i think. If the BCS comes out and says that's it, then that's it. and i don't have a problem with that. just like i didn't have a probelm with it when OSU and Miami played or when Texas and USC played or when OU and USC played etc....the system works for everyone that's in it, including BC and USF and teams of that ilk.

for all the others that feel slighted or feel they are better......my advice, play harder next year.

Law is right if it ends up BC and USF. All the big conferences will be crying fowl.

I GUARANTEE you that USF would be a middle of the road team this year if they played a PAC-10 or SEC schedule.
