Who wouldn't want Lovie?!

Lovie could easily be a 9 or 10 win guy, IMO.

Yeah, I think worst case scenario with Lovie is winning around 8 games a year after he's gotten his players in. With his personality and being at UT, I would think he'd be able to attract some good talent, so that wouldn't be a problem like many suspect it would with Cutcliffe.

Well if we are going to play the lesser of two evils game here then yes i would take Lovie over Cut, then again i would take Sarah Palin coaching over Cut.

Point being is if we can't get a high profile successful COLLEGE head coach then i think the next best option is to get a up and coming coordinator.

Muschamp said no and I'm not even sure what other coordinators out there would make good candidates. None have even been rumored.

an up and coming coordinator would be ideal, but who besides Muschamp. If only carroll had done this weeks ago we could have snagged Calhoun or Idsell, no worries. Damn you Carroll, you fickle hoar

Im a Bears fan.

He's a disaster on so many levels. Terrible staffing decisions, and dear lord would he blow against the spread.

I hate him on the Bears...and I'd REALLY hate him in Neyland.
He has had the Bears in a Superbowl even though Chicago, has tried to get by with Budget Rental QB's and WR's. They took one step forward with Cutler (although he has at times thrown INTs like candy and beads at Mardi Gras)...but they need so much more help, player-wise. The games I have watched the past few years, it always was a team that had glaring holes.

It's the same thing I think is going on with the Jags...just some key holes at key positions.

If you look at the Titans...it's the same. They screwed around and let Al Haynesworth get to Free agency, and that one spot caused the defense to collapse this season. It just isn't the same without him. The Bears are the same without Urlacher, either. They desperately need to draft Dez Bryant in the draft. In the NFL you have to have a complete team if you want to reach the Superbowl...that's why the Titans came up short last year, in the playoffs. No WR's that scared anyone.

True, haven't considered it that way.

Hopefully good news tommorrow, otherwise I may have to lean on my very distant no.2 team if Cut is hired

I'm all for Lovie, as my picture clearly depicts. My facebook status however referenced taking Lovie away from all my friends beloved Bears... Their responses were "like" buttons, and "take him" comments. That can't be a good sign. I'm a redskins fan and don't follow bears football outside of ESPN and national coverage. My friends don't even like talking about what has happened in the past few years... I however think he will be an AMAZING recruiting chip, he would stay loyal (albeit he would be leaving a team for us, but the man is an honest guy and is considered by all to be a "players coach"), and he obviously knows what he is doing if given the opportunity to coach an NFL team, and even take them to a Superbowl with REX GROSSMAN. (Shocking I know!)

I say if he is hired, amazing choice and we will be a happy fan base in no-time. If not, it isn't the end of the world, and at least my Bears friends can keep their "bad coach."

I should have been more specific, a few jobs as positions coach with the last one being 16 years ago. Nothing as a DC or HC. The NFL to college transition usually ends in disaster. Pete Carroll was one of the few exceptions.
Bob Stoopes?

Well...obviously we see it differently. Fisher had some lame seasons too...only to rebound fairly well. Although I'm sore at him and the GM for failing to draft any early round WR's in the past several years, for letting Haynesworth hit free agency, and for waiting till the season was in the tank and the owner had to force him to play Vince Young...he still is a good coach overall.

That's what I see in Lovie...not a bad coach at all. Chicago just needs some help at a few key positions...especially at WR.

Another coach with zero college coaching experience. Also hasn't exactly been blazing a trail in Chicago lately, most of the town wants him out. I just don't see why we have to have a BIG name. Does it justify the Kiffin punking?

If we are going to take another chance on a unproven commodity then let's at least hire an up and coming DC or OC and save some money.

Considering the rest of your posts... I can't wait to have an NFL reject as the NHCATUOTNK. Pitt and USC seemed to do okay with it.

Hire Lovie now. God forbid we have a SB attaining coach on our sideline.

If we're going for that angle, then why not just go with Kippy? He's black, hip, and homegrown so he won't ever bail.

He even looks sexy:
