Who would your ideal 14th team be??

Mine would be... No one... Better yet, get rid of Texas AM and keep the SEC the way it was for the past years.. Doing perfectly fine untill AM cried about Texas.. They're gonna turn into Ole Miss soon... They wont be able to keep up with the SEC playing week after week..

Top realistic gets...
1. NC State
2. Virginia Tech
3. Missou (as long as they are placed in the East)
4. Clemson
5. Florida State

If the SEC adds West Virginia, the collective fan bases from all 12...err..13 schools should gather with torches and pitchforks and go medieval West Virginian on the conference office.

16 teams = Not Gonna Happen

WVU = Not Gonna Happen

Mizzou = Not Gonna Happen

Not sure why anyone wants Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida in the same division.. Would ultimately hurt SEC football IMO.

FSU.
They are in the east, helps with realignment.
They are the only "name" program in the South that isn't already a member.
Since Miami has no following it basically kicks the ACC out of Florida.

FSU as well. Add to these that it would give Florida instate recruiting competition.

Texas, Oklahoma, and Oklahoma State.

This way I can enjoy a nice UT vs UT SEC Championship game eventually.

Not Realistic
1. Georgia Tech (I miss the Jackets!!! They never shoulda left!)
2. Florida State
3. North Carolina

Realistic
1. West Virginia (Their fans are in the spirit of SEC, die hard and rabid)
2. Missouri
3. Virginia Tech

NC.....SEC has enough football powers and NC would raise the level of SEC basketball and bring in a good tv market

West Va is a bunch of inbreds and the SEC doesn't want any part of them..

I heard on one of the radio or TV shows I constantly have on that they couldn't get the 9 votes from member schools required to admit Mizzou. Who is voting against them? Is A&M allowed a vote on this?

I would take any of these in no particular order:

Oklahoma - I doubt it, but would be better quality than Mizzou
Texas - won't happen - Longhorn Network, etc.
Mizzou - long trip for UF every few years :), but might screw some rivalries
VT - obnoxious fans? remember we have UF, UGA, UK, etc.
FSU - I heard SEC isn't looking at states where we have members
Clemson - same as FSU
NC - not gonna break up the NC - Duke - NC St trio for Bball
USF - Only because it would take some of Miami's and UF's recruits

Dont want:

GT - our recruiting territory would be watered down more than it already is
by us, UGA, Auburn, Bama and UF
WVU - don't see them getting their academic qualification and if they do, it would take away many of the high quality players they do get
Miami - They could easily become a powerhouse if they were in the SEC recruiting only South Florida
Memphis - can't believe it was ever even mentioned

I read on here earlier Bama is blocking to keep the TSIO. I think they have the 9 votes but charter schools can veto and I read that school was Bama.

I don't think UNC is an option due to basketball ties and the new additions coming to the ACC in Pitt and Syracuse. Seems like the perfect fit, but isn't gonna happen.

I just don't get the Missouri thing. Or Notre Dame. You really don't want to have to play at either place in late November. The cold will be a factor for SEC teams.

I would vote WVU for the following reasons:

1-The atmosphere is electric and the fans are insane
2-It makes sense, geographically
3-Since the Big East is falling apart, it would add another above average basketball program to the conference
4-Selfishly, I'd love to see the Vols come as close as 2 hours away from be every other year.

Thinking outisde the box...kick Arkansas back to the Big 12 w/ their brethren and invite any 2 of Clemson, VTech and WVU.

:good!: I also like Virginia Tech and Florida State (since that's the team we beat for a national championship in my lifetime)... But since I was a kid, the Clemson Orange has reminded me of our colors. Not our team, mind you, but I think a good addition to the East. My vote: seeing them run down the hill and beating the crap out of them! GO VOLS! Get well Hunter. Go Bray the bionic qb! Hope Poole can pick up the slack. This is the month that will seperate the elite teams from the non-elite teams. I say we go 2-2 and would be proud of that if we played one of those games till the last second, but would love to beat LSU like we should've last year.

The SEC isn't going to add another team located within any of the states that are already in the SEC (i.e. FSU, Clemson). It's ALL about $$$. They want to bring markets into new states regardless of what they say.

Florida State. I suspect that adding FSU would boost game attendance and TV viewers/revenues more than adding a team like Mizzou or WVU would. The state of Florida has a population of over 14M. FSU is solid in FB, Basketball and Baseball and a great fit in terms of their sports tradition & fan support, academics and geography. And, adding FSU doesn't cause the scheduling & geography/distance issues that adding Mizzou does.

Nobody. Give A&M back and leave the SEC just the way it is...the best football conference in America. Too bad it's got to be about $!

Don't all our daily lives revolve around money or do I go to work each day simply for personal gratification?

Will be Missouri or possibly a NC school. It's a business, TV market decision, like it or not. Schools like Clemson and others mentioned will not open new markets. It's not about tradition, unfortunately.

UNC and Duke are a package deal and you are NOT getting one without the other. Plus, they really only care about basketball anyway, so no real motivation for them to leave unless some ridiculous $$$ was thrown their way. If you want to expand into the state of NC, Wake Forest or NC State makes more sense as they would probably love to get out of the Duke-UNC shadow.

However, my prediction is Mizzou as it makes some sense geographically, gives is the St. Louis and KC markets, and doesn't hurt the SEC from an academic standpoint. WVU as a backup.

I would like to see Ga Tech back in the SEC, but doubt it will happen as it doesn't expand SEC's "footprint".
