I would say Memphis, but the SEC would not allow three teams from Tennessee:no:
Give me Memphis and Central Florida or Southern Miss,
Hell we fund their schools every year anyway by playing them and if we loose two schools they would be bottom dwellers like kentucy, miss state, vandy, etc.
We can't and won't lose Vandy. Their academic reputation means too much to us and the BCS/SEC money means too much to them. Central Florida would be a decent addition. They just finished building an on campus stadium for their football team and are getting better every year. Southern Miss would be a great add minus the fact they have hardly any fan support. Memphis will never happen. Neither will Southern Miss, sadly.
If your going to add a team it needs to be an upper level team. Southern miss is not. Clemson, FSU, VT are all good options of football schools with large enough programs to fit in nicely to the SEC.
I just don't equate southern miss with anything other than 3rd tier.Southern Miss always has a good football program, and is decent in Basketball. They could very well be a tournament team this year. The only problem with them is the fan support, which means less money. Less money = less likely to get a bid to join.
If any school was going to leave the SEC voluntarily my $ would be on UF skipping for the ACC to unite with Miami and FlSt. Doubt it will happen but I consider it much more likely that any other school leaving at this point.
