Just thinking about this today, if you could choose forgetting everything that has happened in the past week, who would you prefer as your coach? 1 week ago at this time, Lane Kiffin or Derek Dooley?

One week ago and forgetting everything from the past week ? Well that's easy...Kiffin BECAUSE as of one week ago he WAS our head coach plus I had never heard of Dooley.

As of today...give me Dooley...I respect him more as a man first and foremost.

I probably would have said Kiffin a week or so ago, but knowing what I know now without question I would pick Dooley.

Double D for multiple reasons:
(1) Integrity and class.
(2) DD will enhance rather than embarrass the image of the University and fan base. Did you watch the press conference. Most impressive coach I've ever seen speak.
(3) DD won't put up blasphemous pictures of USC players all over the place [when I learned this about the other guy, I almost threw up].
(4) DD will not thumb his nose at the rules [I do not want an outlaw program, which is what the Toxic Twins are all about].
(5) DD's history shows he is all about taking on challenges--from walking on at UVa, leaving law for coaching, and leaving the comfort of Saban for LaTech. The other guy hasn't worked for anything in his life. For that matter, I would be concerned if I was a Texas fan, because Muschamp is scared to do anything without Mack Brown.

Finally, I think we will be surprised with the level of coaching next year. The staff is shaping up nicely. I always felt that the other guy knew he couldn't win unless he had the best talent; whereas, I believe DD will take the challenge, coach up what he has, and steadily rebuild this program.

I am infinitely more excited about the future today than I was after hostessgate.

If I didn't know anything that has happened in the past week, I would want Kiffin and it isn't even close. That being said, Queefin can rot in hell.

I have to admit I WAS a fan of the Kiffin hire. For a short time it felt good that everyone hated us. I took a certain amount of joy when he called out Meyer and jabbed at other coaches. I have never been a huge Fulmer fan, but am quite appreciative of his accomplishments. For the most part though, he handled himself with class and people respected him. It got a little tiring defending Kiffin and his antics every other day while the news was reporting some recent gaffe. But I liked the direction that the program was going so I continued my support.

Now, to hell with him. After hearing our opposing fans and how complimentary they are of the hire I am changing my tune. I love what I am seeing out of Double D and am excited about the future. There is a little life lesson in this one for all of us.

It really doesn't matter who we prefer now as our coach, Dooley is the head man and I have his back 100%.

I wasn't a fan of the X hire, but I tried to be supportive. He was a media hire attractive to the youth, but he is / was a movie poster cut-out - no substance behind him. I don't think there is a lot of evidence we were moving in the right direction under X either - Fulmer-in-Decline would have went 7-6 this year easily. And Fulmer-in-Decline probably brings in another Top Ten class - he had one before being fired last year. X was no upgrade.

If his bio is even half-legit, you have to respect Dooley. He truly has gone out to be his own man, when he could have stayed on his Daddy's coattails (are you listening, X?). I think he may be a real diamond hre, BUT, no matter how much we think we might like the guy and respect him personally, his legacy will be Ws vs Ls at UT.

But next year is going to be a tough one for the Vols, I think (another reason to question X's recruiting and coaching). Real patience is required.

Not knowing anything at all that I've learned in the last week, Kiffin.

I don't think that's a reasonable question, though. A week ago, we knew nothing at all about Derek Dooley.

Knowing what I know now about both men, if I could go back a year and choose one or the other, I would have chosen Dooley to begin with.
