Who would you like to start a yearly, non-conf. series with?

Also, I liked this part:

Virginia Tech-Tennessee (Tennessee leads series 5-2)

Speaking of orange, why didn’t anyone think of this Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup combination? These schools are only approximately 200 miles apart from each other. Both schools are great venues for college football with wonderful fans. Both schools are great representatives of their respective conferences.

The only problem would be that there would be way more orange in one place than legally allowed. When Hokie fans descended onto Baton Rouge last year, the orange was everywhere and it was not a hue that can be found in nature.

In fact, if this game appeared in high def, you probably won’t be able to view it without the special government mandated safety glasses.

I’d still love to see it happen, healthy retinas be damned!

:)

u-m. I would love nothing more than to see our boys kill them every year like they did in their only meeting.

UT-VT will never happen on a regular basis because both schools use OoC games to get exposure in other parts of the country for recruiting purposes due to lack of area talent. It makes absolutely no sense to play your next door neighbor when the best player on the block is not nearly as good as 10 kids in another region.

Texas. Settle this UT thing every year.

This is, of course, not taking the BCS, rankings and other stuff assocaited with the game. If records and all the money associated with it were taken off the table, this is who I would like to see across from the Vols.

I would love to see UT-Texas,with all the shared
history it would make a great rivalry.

so playing UAB, S. Miss really gets us into other parts of the country? I understand your point, but just saying playing these schools don't help

playing cal and ucla is a great call from a recruiting standpoint since someone mentioned that .. we need more games in the cal/texas areas

Only if you win or at LEAST play close. It doent help at all if you show up only to be blown out.

I would like to see us play more teams from the ACC or Big 10. Not often you see that. Like a Michigan vs UT

i agree w/ Ga Tech

A Georgia Tech game would serve only one purpose. To relive an old rival. In terms of helping with recruiting and exposure, it helps absolutely zero.

That would be a game Vanderbilt could gain from however.

Seems to me that the two requirements that people are looking for are 1) shared history and 2) exposure for recruiting purposes. Using these leads us to the obvious conclusion that we should play Pitt every year in the annual Johnny Majors clash. Obviously this would expose us to the prime areas of western Pennsylvania and eastern Ohio. I'd personally rather us play a team from a real conference (and hopefully one that we could win every year)...for that reason, I have to agree that Tech would be the best choice.

i don't ever think you'd get the ACC and SEC to do it, but I'd like to see the SEC and ACC start a sort of "inter-league Rivalry". We'd play say miami, vt or even carolina every year, florida would keep FSU, ga-ga tech, clemson-sc and so on. You could have vandy-wake, bama-miami, the mississippi teams would have a tougher time getting a rivalry going, but it could be cool. sort of like the acc-big 10 challenge in basketball, have an overall "cup" the conference wins. it would never happen, and a stretch to make work because of the strength of our conferences, but it would be cool for maybe a home n' home.
