Who would we get??

I think alot of these kind of quotes are simply most fans love this guy, he is our number one recruiter, and maybe one of the best in the country. He is also and outstanding position coach, much much better than Rodney Garner. UT is going to have to step and give this guy something someday, the way UGA did with Garner to keep the vultures away.

Are you really saying TT is a better recruiter than RG?

No, not yet, doesnt have the resume that RG has, but in vol land he is looked upon in the same manner. Was speaking of the perception of vol fans toward TT. I personally love the guy and hope we do all we can to keep him,

PAUL JOHNSON

If his Navy teams, with absolutely no one, can get 300+ rushing yards against some very good defenses running a six-play offense, imagine what he could do with a quarterback who could also pass the ball.

I doubt he'd leave Navy to become on OC anywhere, even if the guarantee was made that he would take over when Fulmer retires. But I can dream, can't I?

Trooper has never called one Offensive play and you want to give him the OC position? Could you ellaborate on your reason's why?

well... maybe one reason might be so that the BCA wouldn't get their panties in a wad??
:salute:

Well, we are going to have to throw TT a bone to keep him. Maybe he knows more than we think he does. We didn't know how Cut would do the first time, until he got the job. What is so great about the Hatcher guy from GA Southern?

Trooper should at least get a look at the OC job, he's gone if he doesn't. Which would hurt eventually since he's our best recruiter. I'm not saying he deserves it b/c he is a product of the system, but can you imagine how Chavis might feel about that one after their scuffle earlier this year. I can't see Dan Morrison as our OC. Someone will give him a look soon, but I doubt it will be CPF. Slinging the ball all around the field is definately not CPF's style and we all know his penchant for pulling rank on the play calls.

I have heard that Caldwell is calling it quits at the end of the year. Has anyone else heard this? Also wouldn't mind seeing Slade also call it quits or move on to another program.

dont laugh, but RON JAWORSKI.

I've got a friend who said he'd hire that guy in a heartbeat if he were coaching. Basically under the premise that Ron obviously loves football, and seems to really enjoy breaking down game film. I'm not sure how that would translate into coaching.

Chavis,

He knows what it takes to make a weak offense look and play great....

obviously, a good point about coaching ability. but, for the most part, if you can lead grown men in a position of a successful NFL quarterback, you can lead college age kids with no problem. he is definitely innovative, hard working personable, a good communicator and sharp as a tack. IMO, he would be a great leader for the young men.

Jaws ain't going anywhere. He has it made at ESPN and would never leave that to be an oc at UT. You might as well say Jim Tressell or Urban Meyer will come here to be an assistant.

Bear Bryant would come to Tennessee to coach the fullbacks. Are you kidding? Come on its UT!

Fulmers gardener.
He likes to keep it in the family so he can sever it when it goes bad.

It would not be anybody that would put his job in jeopardy.

yes, the odds say you're right, but stranger things have happened. i don't know why, but it seems to me that the guy would love to coach somewhere, if the money was satisfactory. i've heard that the ESPN guys do real well, but they're not getting rich by any stretch.

i admit that it's not the most likely thing that could happen. however, Jaws, i really think would love to be a HC at a large D1 school or the NFL. he knows noone would hire him for the gig now, with no experience. if he figured that he could come in to UT as OC for a few years and get the experience he needs, he could do it. i'm sure he is confident enough in his own abilities that he would be willing to at least give it a shot.

Cucliffe is running out of opportunities to be a head coach this year. Grobe apparently is at Arky. The only thing of note left is Duke and I believe Baylor, UCLA, USM?
