I know there are a couple of options on replacing Maggitt, but wondered who would be next in line... also, it looked like Malik Foreman, even though doing his best, struggled at times playing Nickel... what is Cortez McDowell's situation and could he help or even someone speedy like Sapp?

I think Kyle Phillips will see some snaps at DE. Vereen will probably start. And no, Butch refuses to make changes and that was obvious Saturday. I'm sure he'll say those players "aren't ready".

Pretty sure Cortez is suited for LB (kind of like a younger JRM). Not sure if he would have the speed to play Nickel. I still think the best case scenario would be to get Justin Martin up to speed and play him opposite corner of Emmanuel Mosely and put Cam at nickel.

Heck Mosely is not looking to good at CB here lately either. To many times i saw him getting his ass whipped on a run to his side. And dam he has been getting his arse beat on long passing plays as well.

Sure hope he gets better.

Cortez is up to 240 lbs. can't see him effectively playing nickel at that size. I think our best option is getting Martin up to speed at CB and moving Sutton to nickel. The coaches have talked about doing this, so I think this is probably more likely.

Moesley had bad game against BG. He actually looked really good against OU.

Vereen will replace Maggitt. probably he and Lewis. Phillips has worked behind Barnett and he may get reps this week at other spot to see how he handles it.

Martin likely at CB and Sutton at nickel. McDowell and Sapp are too slow for nickel

The defense has had two good quarters out of eight. The other six they have looked terrible. Can't tackle, can't cover, penalties, mistakes, yada, yada, yada. What the heck happened? I thought we were going to be lights out on D this year.

OK I hope whoever comes in at the DE/LB spot for Maggitt is Legitt!!! This is crazy how many injuries we have had or suspensions. Going into the season what was the key word?
IF>>> IF>>> Tennessee does not have any injuries they can compete with the SEC East.
McNeil out for two games
O'Brien out for suspension
Gaulden out for the year
Maggitt out for at least the Bama game
Starting O-lineman

I am not trying to be a nega-vol, but where do we get 8 wins with all freshman on the D-line it was suppose to be the best of the SEC now it looks like one of the weaker position groups of them all

AHHHHHHHHH just so *****ing pissed at all the injuries as this year seems to be sliding out of control

We've really missed Gaulden these last 2 games. I don't think the effect of that injury can be overstated.

thanks, didn't know McDowell was up to 240 but I think you are wrong on Sapp not being fast enough.

Our Defense was outstanding on Saturday night for 3.5 quarters, until the last 2 OU drives when our Defense was completely worn out because our predictable, conservative, unimaginative, watered-down offense couldn't possess and move the ball....

1st 12 drives......53 plays, 123 yds, 2.3 yds per play, 3 points

Last 2 drives.....27 plays, 140 yds, 5.2 yds per play, 14 pts.

This loss was NOT on our defense. It was on our coaching staff for shackling what began as a very good, efficient offense after scoring 17 points. Plain and simple.

With CM out Mixon should see the field more and we should get to see what Phillips can do

he might stay with a slot receiver with straight line speed but not in coverage situation. having to follow a slot and stay with him making cuts not his forte..
