With the commitment of Cory Thomas, we now have:

DE Derek Barnett 6'3" 270
DE Joe Henderson 6'4" 222
DE Dewayne Hendrix 6'4" 264
DE DaVonte Lambert 6'3" 275
DE Dimarya Mixon 6'4" 250
DE Cory Thomas 6'5" 272

For those who have been following defensive line recruiting, who will Butch ask to move inside to DT?

Thomas, Lambert, and Barnett will be interchangeable throughout the line.

Barnett is 270 right now
Lambert is currently 290
Thomas is 275

We are still going to add Mosley and Jarran Reed. Both of those guys are true DTs.

Our Defense is going to be pretty stout the next few years if we can get Mosley and Reed and hang on to the ones we have now. Having these guys under Steve Stripling for 3 or 4 years will be a huge step in getting this program back.

More than anything, a bunch of big, nasty DL that strike fear in opposing QB's and RB's would do wonders for this defense. There has been almost zero pressure or control of the LOS this year.

Barnett and Thomas will grow into DTs. Lambert will play DT on 3 down. Two more JUCO DTs will be added to the commitment list soon. IMO.

Don't forget about Danny O'Brien. He's gotten some very valuable reps this year! Also I believe Carr will be a converted DT.

How soon so many forget that Malik Jackson played DT great for us at 275-280 lbs. and is now raising he!! in the NFL. Chill - Strib/Jones have this. You need a 310 +- lber to play the 3 technique and the 280-290 lber for the 5. The lighter DT can sub outside at DE when needed depending on the situation.

Miller and Carr have both played so they will be sophomores.

Hilarious ppl look at profile weights and assume these young kids won't gain another pound. Lambert will be 290lbs obrien 290lbs Carr 290lbs saulsberry 290lbs

We will find a big huge 300+ to play as well. Cory Thomas could easily get to 290lbs. I think barnett will be about 285. Mixon and Hendrix at 265-270 DEs will be scary down the road. Jaylen miller will be a good edge pass rusher eventually.

Don't forget our 0 stars walk on's at 5'9"200ibs.. That may have made honorable mention all district at DE that somebody will bring up next summer

All these tweeners, it's almost like we're still recruiting for the 3-4. :)

Actually, it's the opposite. You want lighter D-linemen for the 4-3. Go back and look at the line we had back in '98, which was a true Chavis-style line built on speed/power.
