Besides the obvious Eric Berry on defense, what guys should or could you see stepping up into leadership roles on this team. It seems like Hardesty might be looking like one of those guys on offense but other than that I really can't think of any. I had heard Crompton had good leadership abilities last summer, but right now I don't think hes respected enough to be an effective leader. It sure would be nice to have a few firey outspoken guys on both sides of the ball this year. Thoughts? Ideas?

Thought ???? Ideas ???? Heres an idea, leaders aren't nominated on a message board ! This is dumb, people please don't start threads just because you wanted to hit the "thread starter" button.

I hope Crompton has a break-out year. Just for his sake. I don't think I've ever felt sorry for a player as much in my life. Hard to believe he can still stay upbeat. Like he's just stupid and has no idea. Like a dog that has no clue he's about to be put down. Like a kid in a family ravaged my alcoholism. Or like a guy in the friend zone.

I hope he lives up to his recruiting hype, but the ding dong brought the negative attention to himself. He was a bonehead last year. Let's just hope he can turn it around

Correction. Crompton is not respected here. You have no clue how he is respected in the locker room. That is where leadership is important. You, among others, may think he can't play, but what matters is what the players think. I'm sure they know better than anybody on the internet.

I mean I played against him for three years in high school, and went to the same camps/combines as him. So I have seen first hand what kind of physical potential he has. Sure it was against high school talent but I know he can be a more accurate passer, and better leader when he is comfortable. And no, as of last year I don't think the players respected him all that much. Gerald Jones, among others dissed him publicly about being slow on making his reads, aka stupid, in the Sentinel. JMO.

Lighten up Francis, the OP didn't nominate anybody, he asked for opinions on who might step into those roles, it was a legitiment question, if you don't want to respond then don't, but no need to abuse the OP here.

Crompton will start this season and though I disagree with it hopefully he will be the leader statistically so we wont have to go through a roulette wheel of QBs like last season. Nick Stephens isnt the answer, if anyone i'd rather see Coleman, but it seems as though Crompton will start

Given what happened last year I believe/ hope Crompton will be much improved. I think the staff will be able to make a desent QB out of him. Hopefully once he gets some confidence he will will become a leader on that side of the ball.

Hopefully. Whoever ends up playing QB needs to step into some kind of a leadership role, even if it is minimal. I was thinking maybe Chris Walker could be another guy to look for on defense. Hes looked pretty good, and I've heard he loves to talk....

It's not who should step up, it's who will. That's not always the obvious choices from a fan's point of view. And more often than not, the leadership is done at times and in ways that nobody else but the team sees. That's the most valuable kind of leadership. It's a natural progression for some kids. And if you're smart, you will allow the leadership that grows by itself to actually BE your leaders.

Montario, Rico, EB, Morley, Gerald, possibly Warren. Those would be my guesses. McNeil could be in there as well.

I think if Crompton starts, he will be a leader in the newspapers. Not so sure he will necessarily be a leader on the field, though.

I'm glad you're still here. Arian wasn't my favorite player I'm not gonna lie but he represented UT and I'll always support him for that :hi:

I think Berry, Williams, and maybe McCoy? sound good on defense. On offense Hardesty, McNeil, G. Jones?, and maybe Chris Scott? Is he kind of quiet? I still think he has a lot of NFL potential. And whoever the QB is that would be a great addition as well.
