Who will be our next coach? (merged)

Stoops....is a pipe dream. I can't stand Oklahoma, but they do have a better overall tradition than UT (both UT's). Why would he EVER think about leaving a better job for Knoxville?

Butch Davis may not be a bad choice......

If we are dreaming.....Jimmy Johnson. I would take Howard Schnellenberger or Butch Davis!

Hell, surely Howard would at least listen to us....
while you're on the Miami train, the most likely of the crew to accept would have to be Coker.

Dave Clawson and Latrell Scott were coaching at Richmond last year, and they've looked pretty good on the recruiting circuit. Plus, his Ohio connections could help bring in a few players.
My point is that you can't just assume a guy who can be successful elsewhere will draw in the right talent to be successful at UT.

Brian Kelly
Dan Hawkins
Will Muschamp
would be my choices.

The first two a little more than the last one IMO. I really like Muschamp and Lord knows he's chomping at the bit to be a HC but I am still uncomfortable with the notion of him managing a whole group of coaches. Maybe he's a unique leader that can get it done... but I'm not comfortable with it.

The one thing I would like to see the most in our next head coach is some FIRE...somebody to create a spark in the program. I think that's why I like Muschamp. Although I know there are a lot of guys that are firey like that. Have y'all seen him stalking the sidelines? That dude gets animated!

I'll give you a list of people who would do better:

Bart Simpson
Spongebob Squarepants
Fred Flintstone
Slash
Brooke Shields
Alicia Silverstone
Ronald Reagan (even though he is dead)
The count of monte Christo
Leonardo Da Vinci
Puff the magic dragon
E.T
My son's
anyone who frequents any board
anyone with a pulse
anyone without a pulse

How much money are any of them asking? Is it reasonable?

Maybe we should consider the Lone Ranger. Who knows, could save a fortune on assistant coaches. :post-4-1090547912:

Honestly, what will it take to push him out? You guys will still be at worse 7-5, and most likely better than that(8-4, 9-3), so is that enough for a change?

Fulmer will never be fired.

If he leaves it will be of his own volition.

"Who could we get to replace him?" is the FAQ.

"Anyone." Is my reply.

Well I can tell you we couldn't go wrong with any candidates because there isn't anywhere to go but up. Fulmer is on the brink of destroying our program. Hell I would hire my little niece at least she knows to not play 15 yards off a receiver with the game on the line.

I would actually like the offensive coordinator at USC to be the next head coach. Not only does he have the best offenses year in and year out but he would also be able to pull in some big recruits from the Southern California area.

Didn't he already turn down the Raiders? Maybe he just didn't want Al looming over him, but it's hard to believe UT can get him if the NFL couldn't.

I think he would definitely be interested. I mean who wouldn't want to coach in front of 100,000 people and he wouldn't have any pressure because Fulmer has brought the program to its knees. We need to completely fire the coaching staff and start over.

Sarkisian turned down the Raiders, yes, but I honestly thought it had to do more with Davis than with the organization.

There are a LOT of people that wouldn't have taken that job... but a lot of people turned down the OC job here too, so I guess we'll see if it's the Organization or Fulmer they were turning down.

It's obvious where this season is going, the same direction it went last season. However, Fulmer will not get the same breaks he got last season with Florida lossing late and will be fired at the end of the season. Who will be our next coach? John Gruden, Johnny Majors, Steve Spurrier, or Nick Sabin? Let me know your thoughts.

skip holtz baby

Please don't bring another Ed Orgeron to the SEC.

Tommy Bowden! With him you get advice from Bobbie, Terry, Nick, Rich, and Lloyd. All those guys could surely turn a program. It's working for us.

i feel bad for you bro i really do. we are pretty close to being there with you though. the last time bowden met fulmer we were outcoached badly, and clemson put a whooping on us.

The story goes that the Raiders were always after Kiffin.

Believe it or not. :)

At this point I would take my drunk neighbour over Fulmer as coach. At least he would yell at the players instead of clapping when they mess up.

After retiring as one of the best QB's of all time......Peyton Manning as OC with Marvin Harrison as his WR coach. Seriously, I do think Manning would make a great OC.

People I'd interview:

Grobe
Schiano
Pat Hill (always liked this guy)
Mike Leach (ditto- great coach, wildly entertaining)
Mendenhall
Will Muschamp (up and comer)

My top choice would be Leach; he's never had a truly outstanding season at Tech (although that could change this year), but he's never had the resources or the talent to compete with Texas and OU. That wouldn't be the case at UT.
