Who will be next coach???

I have a feeling Clawson will be thrown under the bus as a sacrificial lamb to buy Fulmer more time long before Fulmer ever decides to retire. Whenever they do make a change over there, they need to clean house. Get an AD who will come in and fire all of the complacent old timers and get some people in there who can make UTK football exciting again.

Whew.... thank goodness VH posted that and tinfold agreed... I can stop worrying about that happening now....

In all seriousness, I think based on Chavis' comments last year that he'll walk away under private pressure if they have a bad season and the D isn't back to form.

Leavitt is too old to start over.

Schianno just got pasted by UNC. He was a flash in the pan.

Pat Hill could be an option but there have been a few compliance questions at times around Fresno St.

Mack Brown? You have to be kidding. Fulmer is 100 times the coach Brown is. He's a good, not great, recruiter. Outside of the last two Vince Young years, his tenure at Texas has been lackluster.

Stoops isn't going anywhere and certainly not from OU to UT. He's got a better recruiting situation in Norman with their historic ties into Texas. He STILL won't face the competition in the Big 12 after those teams rise and flame out that he'd face in the SEC. He's the star of the Big 12... he's just another coach in the SEC... He hasn't even won a NC.

He won in 2000 didn't he

Right. He just inked a multi-year deal for $340K annually. He goes nowhere until Phillip leaves or axes him.

I agree. UT football has become so predictable and boring.

stoops has won a nc and the fans arent exactyly too happy with his bowl record the last couple years.

mack brown is at least on the same level as fulmer. at least when he had a stud at qb, he managed to beat oklahoma and win a national championship. Can fulmer say that with manning??

leavitt doesnt look a day older than 45 if that, and he has plenty of fire and it looks like his players love playing for him. Definately could be an excellent recruiter with the ties that he has in florida as well as the rest of the big east country.

shciano is a joke?? he took a joke of a school and turned them into a perennial top 20-25 school in an area where there is very little talent. when u come from nothing and spend every ounce trying to get established, then most of the guys that got u there are now gone, theres gonna be a lil dropoff. i have no doubt he will have them back soon.

pat hill- not really too sure of any infractions. but hes a winner

my ideal coach is somewhat young, innovative and defensive minded, great leader and recruiter, intense and passionate. with a very good track record. i want whoever we get to be established.

we dont need another conservative calling coach. We've been there with so many of our coaches. We need an energizing coach that will fling the ball all over the field and hang 50 on people. I really like June Jones, I'd love to see what he could do with the talent that coaching at UT could get him. People on here talk about coaches that brought up programs, he took hawaii from winning almost no games for a decade to having all the passing records shattered almost every year. Now i admit i dont know much about his defensive strategy but we could get a big name d coord. to compliment him and i think all the defenses in the SEC would fear us because all 12 SEC defenses are mostly geared to run stopping since the SEC is mostly a run-oriented league. None of the teams have a stellar secondary and i think a coach like june jones with his offensive midset could really get us scoring (which if yall remember that how you win, by scoring more than th other team). Id rather see us win 60-58 than 3-2 (sorry AU & MSU) because then you always know that if we need points our offense can go get them. Thats the direction i think we need to take with our next coach.

Turner Gil....fast track coach at the University of Buffalo...ex-Nebraska Cornhusker...he may not come to UT, but remember his name, remember where you heard it first...

Sorry guys, the best possible replacement just went to Georgia Tech (who I will admit is my other favorite school).

Coach Paul Johnson is the real deal. He can recruit and he has a unique and exciting offense (triple option) which is what Air Force used to almost beat us a few years back. At Georgia Tech, he has two huge advantages - he can recruit larger atheletes who don't have to commit 2 years to the military, and he can tap the large recruiting base of Atlanta.

Now I'm not trying to turn this into a GT party, what I'm saying is that if UT was going to look for a new coach, look for what fits UT - we need a good national recruiter and an exciting scheme.

I'm not a TN native, can any of you who are tell me why this state produces so few I-A prospects? This is the 3rd largest state in the SEC (behind FL and GA), so why are states like Alabama and Louisiana growing better players than us?

After losing 5 or 6 games this year, who could we:hmm: lure to Knoxville to replace CPF???

i'VE not been posting here very long and have already seen numerous threads w/ same info. I think the horse has officialy stopped breathing, been buried, and started to decay. The maggots and worms are having their way w/ him!!!!!! Please lets stop hitting him for a while!

mack brown/bob stoops/ 1 of these 2 could be ready to move on in the next couple years. especially with the emergance of texas tech/kansas/missouri. would rather have stoops than brown though

honestly, i think our next head coach is sittin upstairs in the press box. Dave Clawson... fulmer is teaching him the ropes and i can see a scenario where fulmer announces his retirement and gives the reigns to clawson

Just going for the current hot names:

1. Todd Graham from Tulsa. Someone will get him soon. I just hope it's not the Gamecocks.

2. Turner Gill. Next big thing from the same MAC that spawned Urban and Saban.

3. Will Muschamp.

All three of these are good possibilities but all carry risks. Muschamp IMO is the least risky but may also be the least rewarding. Gill possibly has the greatest upside but could be a huge risk as a recruiter to UT.
