I am confused...

Were the Fire Fulmer crowd what is now referred to as Negavols (or NegaDools)?

I thought it was time for CPF to go (thanks for the service, much respect, etc...) but now fall into the Sunshine Pumper category. I didn't think CPF could get us there. I realize that is what the NegaDools think now...but the rationale is totally different to me.

I see some lumping of the Fire Fulmer folks into the Fire Dooley Now crowd but don't get it.

You and Dooley have a lot in common.

I don't understand how anyone could be in the "Fire Fulmer" crowd for thinking he couldn't get it done considering he had won a NC in the past but now be in the Pro-Dooley crowd when he has literally never accomplished anything positive as a HC.

FTR, I though it was time for Fulmer to go, and now think Dooley needs to be shown the door as well. He's had his fair shake and has done nothing but drag the program to unthinkable lows (losing to a UK team with no QB). Say what you will about the roster he inherited, but it wasn't bad enough to EVER justify that loss.

Worse thing that happened to Fulmer was Mike Hamilton. If they had hired a real AD he may have never felt like he was untouchable...

I am also in the both category.

I wanted Fulmer out in '08 when it became apparent that he had botched another hire. He should have devote half of his salary to finding the best OC in the United States. He foolishly didn't.

I was anti Fulmer long before it was cool..... I saw things in the early 2000's that have lead us to where we are today... All goes back to hiring a yes man as a AD.. That sheet don't work...

It's always someone else's fault in regards to the demise of Phillip Fulmer as HCAUTK.

I think we can trace the problem back to two things.

1. Having 7 straight years of Randy Sanders at OC. He was not up to that job. Recruiting began to fall off. Discipline fell off. Fulmer should have made a change there after 2002 at tehe latest.

2. Fulmer tried to continually replicate 1998 conservative ball over and over again. It was like he enjoyed being in low-scoring defensive football games. He thrived on conservative play rather than roing for the jugular (something Cutcliffe was also guilty of once he came back and wouldn't throw the deep ball to Meachem) and in the end he got lapped by coaches who were willing to go for it.

It was Fulmer himself that touted Hamilton for the job. He was Hamilton's biggest advocate during the hiring process.

Yeah he was Fulmer's stooge.. Phil had a false sense of security after he was hired and down went the program...

With so many really gread ADs and coaches here on VN I'm really surprised that none of you can get hired at Tennessee, LOL!

Send your resume's in and lets get UT back into the top 5 fast, LOL!

There are a few people here who could have lapped MH as AD. That's a fact.

I wanted Fulmer gone after the 05 season. I felt his recruiting and leadership had a lot to be desired.

I was pro-Fulmer. I thought Hamilton was the problem. I KNOW Hamilton screwed up the whole situation. That said, Fulmer is gone and the door should remain closed.

I am still neutral on Dooley. I believe he is going to be an outstanding coach. He's not there yet. I have the patience to see what happens. Others are impatient. Hamilton listened to the impatient ones and screwed the situation up. Hart will do a better job.

It would be really hard for even a fan to screw up a top 10 program like the qualified guys did.. So what is their excuse?

Well, Fulmer had our talent down and lost big consistently to Bama and UF...then Kiffie totally gutted us when he left and his top 10 class turned out to be a TOTAL BUST. I don't think 3 years is enough time...especially if we beat State and go 4-4 in the SEC. I am not happy about where we are, but realize we had a huge rebuilding job and think we are improving.

We lose to State and I might start rethinking that...
