Who starts Saturday against S. Carolina?

Unless the guy who starts does very well we should see the other guy after a couple of series. We don't need to keep sticking with the same guy if he isn't moving the team or turning the ball over. That goes for every player that starts. They all have backups so if they aren't doing the job next man please.

That is one sure way of assuring that UT posts another goose egg vs USCe.

I think it is time to start JG. QD looked shell-shocked vs UGA. He played scared much like Peterman did at UT. QB's seldom recover from that without a change of teams or coaches.

Like you thought he stared down the receiver on that pick... until I proved frame by frame that he didn't?

QD has his own set of problems. He played very bad vs UGA. But folks like you see NO blame for anyone but QD and usually for one of two reasons or a combination of them.

Some simply don't understand the game well enough to know how a lack of consistency and dependability by WR's can make a QB look much worse than he actually is. Jones mentioned missed assignments again today saying that if the play called for a 5 yard hitch... the WR couldn't make it a 12 yd hook.

Others, simply vested themselves in JG and want him to be the starter. Dormady is in the way so they trash him regardless of all the rest.

You mean except for how JG has looked... against lesser competition, right?

You're smarter than that. UT's WR's couldn't get off coverage against UMass allowing them to run blitz and load the box. UMass! UMass' DL got push against UT's OL.

I think JG is an extremely talented guy that with a little support around him could shred a team like UMass. Instead he had 3 totally ineffective drives.

NOTHING whatsoever to do with JG's ability or even his lack of development. There are just more problems on this O than either QB can account for.

Sort of like Peterman, right? Peterman looked MUCH worse before transferring. Simpleton or simply biased toward JG?

The same guy who produced that 2nd half come back vs GT is still wearing #12. Teams have just taken away the few things UT's WR's have proven they can do.

The only person you proved anything to was yourself, the rest of us fans have seen him stare down receivers all year, just liek the 1st play of the GA game!

Your so called knowledge of the game, is BS. You know about as much about the game as a pee wee coach!

Dormady has earned every bit of trashing he has received this year on his own, quit blaming everyone else he looks like garbage and that is a fact!

Peterman is still over rated, he will not be a star by any means in the NFL. he is a horrible example, who would have traded Peterman for Josh Dobbs last year? No one in their right mind!

You are fighting for a dead horse, Dormady looks like garbage and that was a fact. JG jhasn't looked great either but he also hasn't been able to get into rythmn at all playing a series here and there.

Once again, I am not saying that JG will be the answer for this offense, but he can't be that much worse than Dormady has been thus far! Heck McBride couldn't do that much worse!

Dormady didn't do anything to win the game at GT, he played the best football ghe's played in the 4th Qtr but John Kelly took that game over with what 4 TDS. Dormady wasn't the only person who played a role in the come back win, we could have ran Kelly and never threw and won that game!

What are people smoking that makes them thing anyone other than QD deserves to take a snap for this team? We are 3-2 and QD had done enough of 4 of those games to keep his job. JG for whatever reason has shown absolutely nothing on the field to deserve a single snap going forward. Everytime he has been in the game things have gone badly there is not a single existing JG highlight as a QB for UT existing in the universe.

Does that mean he is a done deal and should be jettisoned? No but it does mean that the best chance for us to win games that we can use any amount of intelligence to get to is QD. He did enough to win the Florida game. He won the other 3 and the UGA game was just.. bad all around. Their record, when analyzed says UGA is a legit playoff team. They are destroying opponents by an average of 35-10. Only one opponent has made it a game this year (ND) and they only have 3 games left on their schedule possible of changing things (UF,AU and GT). They realistically have ot only beat Florida and they are in the SECCG if they also beat auburn and GT they will not only be a shoe in playoff team but will be at worst ranked number 2-3 behind Bama.

This is a case of understanding reality/context. In football there are 4 places where mos football talent comes from, and the rest of the country. Those 4 in order are California, Texas, Florida and Georgia (Atlanta). Every other state is in a separate category than those and in the case of UGA they have a further advantage. They are the only real instate competition for most of that talent. Cali and Texas you have 4-5 schools legitimately competing for talent. In Florida you have the big 3. In Georgia you have UGA. GT can pull in the "overlooked guys" that wanna stay close to home or the big guys that wanna stay close to home but the fact they gotta pass GT admissions standards Kirby smart is proving that there was good reason for letting go of Richt because he is converting that talent to wins.

As UT fans we need to let go of the myth this program was at any time some kind of dynasty. Even at its best (neyland) we were in the conversation. Outside of that we have been a historically 8-10win (based on era team). Outside of an exceptional year expecting more than 9-10 wins is crazy and 8-9 wins and a bowl game is a good result. Get in your feelings all you want but if you want to argue it show facts. For those that haven;'t been around as long as most to have actual memory of history Google is a great tool because it shows raw hard facts in context.

The concept of a National Championship as we know it today didn't exist until the late 80's early 90's. Looking back on the list of banners we have hung is hilarious at best. Trust me for most of the years we have a natty listed before '98 there are 2-3 other schools with those same championships hung up somewhere.

Wow that's a whole lot of words, making a whole lot of no sense.

Right. That's why when asked for examples... you only came up with one... and that one was EASILY proven wrong.

Your so called knowledge of the game, is BS. You know about as much about the game as a pee wee coach!
You don't have to know very much to see simple facts on a video recording. QD either looked to the flat receiver or he didn't... he did. The "route tree" either had 3 receivers in the same sight window or it didn't.... it did.

Like I said many times, this was simply a count of helmets. QD made a terrible read... but it wasn't caused by staring the receiver down.

Dormady has earned every bit of trashing he has received this year on his own, quit blaming everyone else he looks like garbage and that is a fact!
Simply... no. You either lack the ability to understand that a WR that fails to get across the face of a DB is at fault rather than the QB... or you have an agenda. Those are the very visible types of mistakes. Both Scott and Jones have indicated there's much more. We usually cannot see it because the camera stays on the ball.

Peterman is still over rated, he will not be a star by any means in the NFL. he is a horrible example, who would have traded Peterman for Josh Dobbs last year? No one in their right mind!
You are embarrassing yourself. If Peterman never becomes any better than he is... he's done better than most CFB QB's ever do. The Bills felt comfortable enough with him to make him the back up as a rookie. Of course you'll probably take shots at their "football knowledge" too.

You are fighting for a dead horse, Dormady looks like garbage and that was a fact. JG jhasn't looked great either but he also hasn't been able to get into rythmn at all playing a series here and there.
"Looking" bad and being the problem... aren't the same thing. Whether by ignorance or bias... you keep ignoring that.

JG hasn't had a chance to get into a rhythm? He had 3 consecutive series vs UMass. Several against ISU. He's played more than the vast majority of back ups already. He's been awful.

And unlike you... I do NOT blame him entirely. He is reflecting the SAME PROBLEMS as QD's "garbage" does.

Once again, I am not saying that JG will be the answer for this offense, but he can't be that much worse than Dormady has been thus far! Heck McBride couldn't do that much worse!
Except for the simple fact that he HAS been worse. The ONLY hope he has is that the WR's will take a major step forward and that Jack Jones will stop getting whipped on almost every play.

One of the reasons this is a good week to start him is that USCe is one of the worst if not the worst D's in the SEC. But even then... UT's WR's have to get a clue.

Dormady didn't do anything to win the game at GT, he played the best football ghe's played in the 4th Qtr but John Kelly took that game over with what 4 TDS. Dormady wasn't the only person who played a role in the come back win, we could have ran Kelly and never threw and won that game!
:lolabove::lolabove::lolabove:

You are just blinded by bias. No other explanation... unless it is personal hatred for some reason.

Not even close. He was terrible and the wildcat has never worked with him.

This wouldn't be a wildcat. The biggest negative I could see is he wouldn't have his best receiver to throw to because that would be himself. This offense is not compatible for QD, as it has been so often been talked about. JG hasn't had enough playing time to ever develop any sort of rhythm. Jennings has moved to WR after his first spring. I don't think he would be that big of a liability. Wouldn't much worse than what we've so far this season.

pimo1 so you are saying: "we have been a historically 8-10win"

I'm sry to say if what you are saying is true..........then Tennessee is still a huge name and team. I mean really how many schools are there that can say that over their history? Not to mention many years teams played 8-10 games total.

So thanks for your vote of confidence.

God, please don't let me ever sound like this...please.
Both will play, Dormady will get the start.

He looked emotionally wasted vs UGA. Not much better vs UMass. We've seen more than our share of QB's with shattered confidence... Ainge, Crompton, Simms, Peterman,....

QD looks the same now. I may be surprised by he's probably done at UT. Regardless of the reasons... a QB cannot play without confidence in himself and trust in his team.

I don't get the Guantanamo love?? He stunk up the joint every series! Dormandy Has played well at TIMES; but he can't perform thinking the backup is coming in at any time! Butch screwed up when he inserted "Guantanamo" just because he "Promised" him some snaps. NOW; you have the starter shaking his head. Hail Far. Yall are blind.

It doesn't matter. Neither has proven anything yet.

Texas A&M true freshman QB make UT QBs look unprepared.

I’ve been saying you wait to see how the season plays out with Butch.

HOWEVER, if Butch starts Dormady on Saturday, fire him immediately because we have no shot with him. We’ve seen vanilla to really bad every game with QD. Move on to the young pup and ride him the rest of the way.

If the O line will play up to their potential, either QB would work. I'd love to see Kelly get 200 yards. Also love to see Chandler or Callaway return a kick...all the way.
