Josh Smith has been a steady performer in big games in past years. His experience will be what gets him out there first.

He's only caught as many balls in a career as most top notch WRs catch in a season. He's not a bust but he has no business starting over better younger players IMO.

I'd rather see Byrd start and get the majority of snaps with Josh rotating in to give him rest. He just has much more ability to do good things after the catch as a more explosive athlete. Also, I'm not sure where Brandon Johnson lined up most of the time last week, but if it was in the slot, let's see more of him as well....good route runner, good hands, looks like he can be one of our primary guys going forward along with Callaway, Byrd and Palmer imo.

I wish we could find a way to get Carl fin on the field more, he is really explosive with the ball in open space. I know it was ISU, but still that kid can fly and runs hard too. With him being from Florida, I'm sure he will want to show out in front of his friends and family and old HS buddies that are on UF's team.

Brandon started at the slot last weekend..i swear this kid is so valuable he knows every wr position on the field...due to smith byrd and Williams out it forced palmer to start at wideout and they moved Brandon to slot....he had a great game for being his first time ever playing in slot..

Josh Smith definitely deserves playing time in this offense. He has made more than a few clutch catches in his career that have bailed us out. JMO but he seems more reliable than Byrd at this point (cant get the image of multiple drops vs GT out of my mind). I trust Josh to pick up a timely 3rd down. Excited to have him back, and we definitely need his experience whether he starts or not.

That and possibly the recent memory of Byrd dropping every pass thrown in his direction vs GT.

One of those drops was the pass being thown behind him. He would have had a big play if it had been properly placed.

Yeah... its all Dormady's fault, right?

Are you sure it was thrown behind him or did Byrd keep running rather than settling into a soft spot in GT's zone? I don't know honestly. But it could be either. Nonetheless, it hit him in the hands and was a catchable ball.

I have always had high hopes for Byrd but he didn't play well enough to start in front of Josh Smith if he's healthy. I REALLY wish that weren't true. With a couple less drops vs GT... the game would have gone completely different for the D.

Tyler Byrd has exactly 0 (zero) yards from scrimmage after the first two games this season. It's time that someone else got a chance to shine.

Smith should start. He's the most experienced, runs the best routes and is the most consistent receiver in practice. Smith and Dormady had the best rhythm before the injury. Smith and Byrd will probably rotate all game, so it doesn't really matter who starts.

It was man coverage so he had a shot at big YAC. Im not blaming Dormady at all eithier. I just not bashing Bryd for that one.
