This program is teetering on disaster. The last time someone in this university had to make a decision of this magnitude was 1964 and I am not sure that anyone has the knowledge necessary to make a good decision.

Battle, Majors, and Fulmer were all inside jobs and the decision was virtually made when the position became open. The last real decision to hire a coach was in 1964 when Doug Dickey was hired off the Arkansas staff. I am afraid with the situation they have got with the Fulmer contract that they will try to go cheap and really put Tennessee Football in "has been" status for many years.

But the real issue is that Tennessee has put itself in this situation by foolishly believing that Fulmer has been competitive over the last eight years and extended the contract last summer.

I have one question for President Peterson and Mike Hamilton. Do you want to be competitive in the SEC or do you expect the fans to continue to eat the mediocrity that you are feeding them?

The answer will be in your decision that you will have to make in choosing the next coach at UT.

Which he inherited from Dennis Erickson, who has left every school on probation.

If you want to see something shocking, look at Idaho's arrest record from his one year there. There was some crazy stuff going on out there!

I played ball with Muschamp. The thing is that he'd be out the door the day Richt hung it up. He bleeds Munson red.

Greg Schiano or Tommy Tuberville. Forget about Mendenhall. He's a Mormon at THE Mormon school. That's like being Secretary of State at the Vatican.

Agreed! Personally If noone went to the Northern Ill. game that would send the message but it would also be sad and demoralizing to the players

Tuberville would be my dream coach, but I don't find it likely that he'd leave AU to come here. I'm not up to date on salaries, but I'm pretty sure he's well paid after what they put him through a few years ago.

Anybody but Bobby Petrino. That guy is about as loyal as a hooker.

That's true. I was agreeing w/ hat.

Erickson can run a program...just not honestly.

No it wouldnt. I've already heard two players state that they didnt play for or worry about what the fans think.

Well if they don't care then why do we need to continue to go to the games? If I knew honestly that more than those 2 idiots felt that way, I'd never stop foot in that stadium again. But that's been the big debate lately. If we stage a no-show for N. Ill. It would hurt the players...apparently , they don't give a crap how we feel.

If I ever had a kid say "Coach, I'm going to play for either Dennis Erickson or Rick Neuheisel", I'd be more likely to swallow a lead slug than be happy with that.

george quarles

Every time I see that name now I think of this post from freak.

Son, we play a game that requires offense. And those offenses have to be run by men with clipboards. Who's gonna do it? You? You, George Quarles? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Trooper Taylor and you curse John Chavis. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Cutcliffe's departure, while tragic, probably saved our program. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, wins games...You don't want the truth. Because deep down, in places you don't talk about at parties.......

:p

Well I'm not spending my money on over priced tickets $4 drinks and $4 hot dogs to put up with mediocrity...I can have that at home and the drinks and food is cheaper. Plus, my rear won't hurt by halftime

#1 John Gruden, his wife is an ex Tennessee cheerleader. #2 Texas Tech's coach Mike Leach, they score tons of points. #3 Chris Petersen, he has put Boise State on the map. #4 Pat Hill @ Fresno State, he gets alot out of sub par players, what do you think he could do with 3,4, and 5 star players.

Pat Hill coaches physical football and I would love to see him punch Urban Meyer in the mouth.

NO MIKE LEACH. There's no way that gimmicky offense is successful in the SEC. Steve Spurrier would win at SC were it the case. That would set us back 20 years. We might as well hire Hal Mumme.

I'd agree with Gruden. Fresno State, on the other hand, is one of those places, like Louisville, that takes those who don't qualify. So, while they don't necessarily have the brightest players, they've got the athletes.
