Who should be the bball starting 5?

I think it would be incredible if our starting 5 for next year could be:
Ramar
Lofton
Tyler
Duke
Chism

I think Duke is too good not to be in the starting lineup. Jajuan has had some good games, but he'll never get to the NBA. This would give us 5 different scoring options on the floor at the same time. And with those 3 down low...would we ever NOT get a rebound?

I can see the logic in having Jajuan in there and giving Ramar 2 options to kick it out to when he slashes and dishes it off, but Tyler and Chism can both shoot the 3 also, so I don't think that's that big of a deal. I hope to see this lineup at some point during the season, but I'm not holding my breath.

Bruce has pretty much said Tyler will be a starter next year in his recent interview... so the 3 Smith's, Lofton, and Chism are pretty much a lock..

I like the combo of Wayne, Lofton and the Smiths. Good combo of experience, energy and skill. Also allows us to bring in some energy in Duke, JP, Tabb etc. off the bench.

There will be lots of subbing this upcoming season. Starting 5 will be great, but there will be a lot of different combinations of players throughout the course of a game.

Duke is not a "scoring threat". If you've seen him recently you know he's not good enough to start.

If Tennessee ran a more traditional offense... I would go with:

Ramar Smith PG
Chris Lofton SG
Tyler Smith SF
Duke Crews PF
Wayne Chism C

That's an awesome combo. However, Coach Pearl is a little unorthodox and his system needs the lineup of the 3 smiths. We still aren't terribly deep at big man either, as I suspect Williams will likely redshirt.

Like the majority of people in here, id say its Ramar. C-Lo, JuJuan, Tyler, Chism <--The starting 5 that leads the Vols to the final four :rock:

ESPN - Katz: Bruce Pearl elated to get Smith transfer - Men's College Basketball

Pearl said he will likely have three Smiths in the starting lineup -- Tyler and guards JaJuan and Ramar Smith (unrelated) -- to go along with SEC Player of the Year favorite Chris Lofton at guard and forward Wayne Chism. The starting five will be quick but on the smaller side with the 6-foot-7 Tyler Smith and the 6- 9 Chism as the only players taller than 6-2.

what depth we have this year. Duke, Childress, Tabb, Howell and Prince in January can come in and provide quality minutes. that second 5 is amazing, not to mention Brian Williams and possibly Steven Pearl (who is pretty good).

yea i can't wait, ihave been thinking about this so much that i havent even realized that we're more than halfway through the summer

Its amazing how deep we'll be.
I think its safe to say the lineup will be
R Smith
Lofton
J Smith
T Smith
Chism

Even next year we'll look good with our lineup maybe being
Ramar Smith
JP Prince
Tyler Smith
Duke Crews
Wayne Chism
(100% 4 and 5 star players)

simply amazing we are talking UT basketball this close to football season. The fact that we're recruiting against Duke and talking about basketball in July is awesome!

It doesn't matter who the starters are. If we can get quality minutes from the guys who AREN'T starters than I will be 100% happy.

If Smith leaves i would think if we land Elliot that he would start at the 2 and Prince at the 3, which would look like...
