A friend of a friends sister's boyfriend stated after interviewing over 80 potential candidates Jacobs and Gogue narrowed the list to two.
They were split over Gill and Chizik. They asked each one to meet with them in Memphis along with Jimmy Sexton for final decision.
Upon arrival Chizik and Gill were brought in together and both were told they were the finalist and it was a tie between the two and the Auburn Nation needed a man now.
After both were told how impressive they were Jay announced to settle the tie whichever candidate could come up with best poem that ended in "Ten Buck Two" would be the next head coach at AU. It was explained to them that Dr Gogue was a man of poetry and this would satisfy his approval of candidate.
Jacobs told Gill since he was first interviewed, he would go first.
Gill looked determined and had the look of a warrior. Chizik appeared nervous and responded "this is crazy". He also confirmed again, This is why Auburn cannot win a Nat'l Championship.
After Chizik regained his composure the contest began.
Gill with confidence and his chest bowed outward and being the gentlman he is began with;
Across the desert sand, went a lonely caravan
Under a sky so blue, destination "Ten Buck Two"
Wow said Jacobs and Gogue.
Ok Gene your up.
With the sweat pouring off his forehead, and Gene mumbling something about Texas, he began with;
Me and Tim a fishing we went
Ran across three ladies in a tent
Not knowing what to do,
I Buck one and "Tim Buck Two"
The rest is history...
