Who Is Your "Favorite Vol Punt Returner Of All-Time"?

Ricky "the barefoot wonder" Townsend was an All America placekicker. I don't recall #22 ever doing any punting though. I think Clabo was doing the punting back then....

Barefooted though he was, I still recall him making jarring tackles on the kick returns.

Bobby Majors gets my vote too....

I just wish we could get someone to consistantly field the ball and not turn it over these days!!!!

Bobby Majors... hands down

Bobby Majors - hands down. And Willie Gault on kickoffs.

Not hands down----------Eddie Brown was great too.

Majors and Eddie Brown hands down. Played softball years ago with Brown, great person.

I hate to be the one to say it, but if we are talking about punt returning hands down, it would be hard to match this years collection of punt returners.

The list starts and ends with Leonard Scott

LOL

Speaking of sprinters though, I know Willie Gault returned some kicks! Before my time though. Dale Carter and Carl Pickens are the two best return men I've seen, but I can;t remember who returned what.

Bobby Majors is the first name that popped in my head when I saw the thead title...yep he's the one.

Kansas. I was listening to John Ward describe it.

Kansas is correct, JWF; in Memphis at the Liberty Bowl stadium. My friend, Larry Harris and I were there. Kansas had a really good All-American candidate at QB ( can't remember his name) and some top-notch receivers, but, the Vols, thanks to Eddie Brown playing lights out, prevailed in a close one, as I recall.

Thanks man good stuff!! One of your future wives? Were you going double shifts that day lol you lucky dog you!!

Naw, Grizz. She was #2. Lasted a whoppin' 3 yrs. It took me 3 times, but I hit the lottery in 1977. She's still drop-dead gorgeous, is a gourmet cook, and can out-work any man I know, myself included. What she sees in this crusty old Scots-Irishman, I quit asking a long time ago, my friend. Best thing to ever happen to me. I thank God every day that she's in my life AND she would fight a buzz-saw goin' both ways for the Vols.

No one ever told him about the fair catch rule. That joker would never call for a fair catch. I remember him saying why, "I've never seen anybody able to hit hard enough to kill me."

That's outstanding pepper, they don't make women like that anymore!! My boss has been married 3 times and he told me to never ask him for advice because he's been married 3 times lol

A friend of mine Shawn Summers returned punts for UT in the early 90's. His average was up there with the best.

I personally liked Terry Fair...I remember he had a couple of long TD returns in '96...The one against Arkansas was one of the best I can remember...I have an "old school" friend who says Bobby Majors, hands down...I can't remember that far back..lol...Since we suck at punt returns this year, figured I would try to dredge up memories of better times....:)
