Who Is Your "Favorite Vol Punt Returner Of All-Time"?

I love all of these old names being discussed.

One of my favorite special teams play was Eddie Brown getting his teeth knocked out blocking a kick.
He got his teeth knocked out and played the entire game the following week.
Gets my vote

Dale Carter. I seem to remember Carl Pickens returning a few punts also, return for TD vs. Louisville?

I'm glad someone finally mentioned Eric Parker. One that really needs to be on this list of names but isn't is Shawn Summers.

Glad I'm not the only one. Summers was the all-time leader until Parker broke his record.

Without a doubt, Bobby Majors. My first Tennessee jersey that I ever got had number 44 on it, Bobby's number.

Bobby Major without a doubt and do not forget Stanley Morgan. He had great vision.

Johnny Butler.... Don't you young whippersnappers know ANYTHING???!?!

Seriously though, Gault was the best I ever saw. Someone said they saw him recently at Tom Black running 40's. Said he still had 4.3 speed. He's what.... 55 years old now?

Willie has taken care of himself. Very smart guy---and gifted; no doubt. Still don't know how Majors got him out of Griffin, Ga.

In my lifetime the only 3 that I remember being a threat to take it to the house was Dale Carter, Terry Fair and Nilo.

Fair enough. Back before that we had Carl Pickens and Stanley Morgan ... then I got to thinking, did Morgan do punt returns or just kickoffs?

He can't be 55, I'm 55 and I graduated in 77. We got Gault in a recruiting year when Johnny Majors was red hot and pulling in a lot of blue-chippers.

Does anyone know of, Ricky Townsend? I went to school with a guy who is his son. I remember when we were really young he brought in his UT jersey and told a story of how his dad was the first person to punt barefooted. Now that I think of it I would like to look into it

Ricky "the barefoot wonder" Townsend was an All America placekicker. I don't recall #22 ever doing any punting though. I think Clabo was doing the punting back then....

Special Teams were fun.

If Iremember Cafego was coaching kickers then. He produced some great ones.
