I know people have been discussing this a lot, especially with the SEC championship game coming up. I searched for this, but I just wanted to get this in a poll.

So who is the biggest rival?

I went with Alabama. It has all the tradition. I'm annoyed by Tebow, Meyer, and the Gators. I hate Alabama. To me, Florida is a 20 year old program with annoying fans. Bama and UT are the class of the Southeastern Conference.

In short, beating UF is nice, and important to success in the conference, but nothing matters more to me than beating the Crimson Trash from Tuscaloosa.

Florida. That's who we compete with for the top spot in the East.

Alabama is physically closer and is our old traditional rivalry, but if you win the east you have a chance to beat Alabama twice!

It used to be Bama and may still be, but to get to the SEC Championship game the Vols have to beat Florida. Florida is the team to beat in the SEC East to get to the SEC Championship game. The Vols probably have played Bama more than any other team(someone check that out). If I'm wrong, it might be another SEC school but not sure. The old battle cry used to be "beat Bama" but to get where the Vols want to be, they've got to "beat the Gators!"

It really depends on your age. I'm 23 and my earliest vivid memories of UT football come from the Head Ball Coach, "You can't spell Citrus with UT." I was 13ish when Wilhoit made that kick to beat Florida, making way for the 1998 BCS National Championship. UT v. FL is for the division crown almost every year (with a couple of exceptions). A hate for 'Bama is ingrained us in us young bloods, but for us Florida is the biggest, most important game every year.

Florida isn't even second.... In order for UT to have a successful season two teams MUST be defeated.... Bama and Vanderbilt. Those two teams are our longest standing rivalries (yes Vandy IS a rival.... Lose to Vandy and you'll see what I mean....). Beating Kentucky (as usual) is a nice bonus, and beating Georgia is also nice but Florida is third on the list.

May want to recheck your facts.

We've overcome losing to Florida to win the SEC.... We did it in 1997. Losing to Bama or Vandy sticks with you.......

I think CLK has pointed more comments in the past season toward UF and CUM than UA or CNS.

imagine if jeff hall was the kicker this season.... we would have definitely beat bama. he's the greatest UT kicker of the last 20 years.

Alabama, and it's not close. Like previous posters have said, Florida has been good for about 20 years, and before that they were trash. Alabama has always been good, and for that, they are Tennessee's biggest rival.

I would even put Auburn on par with Florida..... Other than Bama (and now Florida....which will be rectified next year) Auburn is the only SEC program to have a winning record against UT. Before the conference split, the Tennessee-Auburn game was huge. Neither team EVER lost that game and went on the win the conference title.

When did John Becksvoort graduate? He's the best I remember... Better than the Reveiz brothers.... Ricky Townsend was really good but he was from way back in the day....

I'm 21, and to people I know around my age, Florida is the biggest rival to us. But we still hate Bammer a lot.
