I hear see this talk on here about how gigantic this game is for UT, and I agree that it is, but who does this game mean more too?

The way I see it, these are national powers viewed in different lights. UT is the mighty that has fallen and is now clawing their way back to national relevance. OU, meanwhile, is the national power that seems to have stalled and lost some of its glow.

People still see national power when they look at OU, but they also see a team that has a recent history of under preforming and I think people are starting to expect it. If I told you 4 or 5 years ago that Texas would be a total train wreck, who would jump to mind as likely Big 12 champ? Turns out they are a distant 3rd.

UT has been down down so long that people are used to it. If polled I bet the nation would be more surprised to see UT ranked and competitive at this point than the contrary. UT is desperate for relevance.

As a UT fan my initial lean on the question posed is:

It has to be bigger for UT! Look at what is at stake! Years and years of suffering and rebuilding has led to this moment... a chance to beat a national power at home during prime time and stake our claim. "UT is back!"

Sure this is a huge game for both national, and internal, perception. This game is huge.

I started to take a look from the other side however, and what I have realized is this game represents a desperate claim to national relevance for a team and fan base that doesn't know any better. Oklahoma is the Georgia of the Big 12, or at least recently they are. They are loaded with talent but always find a way to lose big games.

Think about what is at stake in the other direction. If OU wins they can say, even if they finish 3rd in the Big 12, we are still close. If they lose? Goodbye hope. Mediocrity is back again.

I know I would love to be 9-3 this year... OU would strongly disagree. But if they lose you won't find any prediction better than that. OU is desperate to avoid repeating the new narrative they represent.

All in all, this game is massive. I think both teams are very talented, and flawed at the same time.

I. Can't. Wait.

Bigger for us (in a good way) if we win, bigger for them (in a bad way) if they lose, JMO!

TN goes into top 20 with a win!

I don't know, but it's been a long time since I've seen a non-conference game where both teams and fanbases have wanted a win SO badly.

Really is a tough question to answer. I went with the Vols, though.

This really is a tough vote. If OU goes down it could be the part of a downward trend that started last season. If UT wins it will be a big boost to this young team.

I think it's definitely bigger for us....for all the reasons that have been listed.

OU seems to have an entitlement mentality at this point, and they seem to think they deserve to win. They, along with others, have taken to trashing our program as a has-been. Losing to us would represent a large insult, especially in the light of Stoops comments on the SEC. Much to lose for them....especially if we beat them soundly.

Guys....people parked Uhauls and for sale signs in stoops yard last year after he took a mid season vacation and lost to TCU. As the season went on and we got blown out at Baylor the fanbase got worse..landthieves melted down etc....IF Oklahoma loses this game, it will pave the way for more losses. If that happens I think Stoops is gone.

now that i think about if we lose, we still have a chance to win the SEC EAST which is what we are hoping for. If Oklahoma loses Bob stoops goes on the hot seat. So why the game is big for both teams Oklahoma cant afford a loss .After a very disappointing season last year. but what the hell GO VOLS and stomp a mud hole in them and walk it dry!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would want the OU fanbase to really think about getting rid of Stoops. You don't want to spend the next 5 years going from coach to coach and getting worse every year.

This game is big for the Fans and the Program to show we are coming back to the top, we cant lay a egg, we can handle a 3 point loss, but we cant take a 28 point beat down, the Florida game is a must for this program.

It's impossible to quantify. But I'd say Big Orange. Disclaimer: I'm a Big Orange fan so there might be a little bias

My advice to Sooner fans: be careful what you wish for

If we win- it's a BIG win. First ranked win for Butch and UT in how long!? Big boost to momentum and more proof things are heading in the right direction.

If we lose - it's not a big deal. We still have a nice shot in the SEC East. Everyone on this board would rather beat UGA, Florida, Bama, Arkansas, and maybe even South Carolina than Oklahoma.

If they win - It's somewhat expected. They should win.

If they lose - I think it's going to be seen as a sign things have faded at OU.
