[QUOTE="sami, post: 18975626, member: 64112 Kiffin was and is a good coach, and shouldn't even be on this list. He's the one legit coach of the bunch, and had he stayed it may well have been a different story, as his one year here was my favorite among any season since Fulmer was fired.QUOTE]

Do you remember the utter disaster that was Kiffins only recruit class?

Pruitt by far. Loses to everyone. Here is details besides Ga ST and BYU

"Auburn joined Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Kentucky, Missouri, Vanderbilt, Alabama and Arkansas as SEC teams to beat the Vols at least once during the three-year Pruitt era"

Lane Kiffin destroyed the program and none of the rejects who followed him were a serious attempt at resurrecting the program. Bargain basement hires get bargain basement results. Shocking!! They tried to save money and it cost them waaaay more than any upfront and long term money on the serious hire of a mature proven coach after Fulmer's firing would have.

Say what you want, but Derek Dooley or Butch Jones weren't getting their asses handed to them in every single game in year 3. Neither of them loss to a GA State type team either.

I voted Lyle. Only because, once Dobbs and Kamara left. He was finally exposed for being as bad of a HC as he truly was.

Dobbs and the athleticism he brought to the field consistently bailed out Lyle and his coaching. When that was gone, it derailed quickly.

I believe an athletic QB like Dobbs leading our Offense for Pruitt would also make him look competent as a HC. He just didn’t start with that luxury on roster out of the gate like Lyle did...

Just my opinion though...

Wasn’t Dobbs committed to Arizona State when Lyle was hired by Tennessee?

In Lyle’s first (half) recruiting class he found his QB. In 3 (2.5) recruiting classes Pruitt still hasn’t found his QB?

Yes I believe you’re right now that I look back on it. Lyle struggled with committing to who to start between Peterman and Dobbs. And he struggled to win before Dobbs and after Dobbs.

For clarity, my dislike of Lyle doesn’t keep me from being over the current coaching situation and the new levels of ineptitude that Pruitt shows the fan base each week.

Dooley was terrible but he was competitive with teams. Our offense was actually good. Until he hired Sunseri, he had a chance to be here a few more years.

We’re not even good on the defensive side of the football and we look completely unprepared every week. Pruitt has worse losses than even Dooley.

Pruitt is the worst. Never thought I’d say anyone was worse than Dooley, but he is.

What is sad is that these four were all hired in that exact order by a single school. Basic luck should have been that at least one of them should have been at least competent
Isn’t this the truth. You’d think we would just get lucky with at least one of them.

Ranking Dooley, Jones, and Pruitt is the equivalent of picking by which poison you would rather be murdered now isn’t it?

Kiffin is the odd man out here. Unlike the other three, CLK is a capable and proven Coach. We had the twin misfortunes of 1) hiring him before he matured as a man and leader and 2) had an AD who was unable to to draft a contract with adequate safeguards to protect our program from what transpired. With different timing, Lane Kiffin would have been a fine hire and VFL.
