Keep hearing someone who has transfered in on the D line has been hard to handle this fall camp. Juco transfer maybe?

Terry has gotten the most press and he is running 2nd behind Simmons right now. Which is a bit of a surprise.

Omari Thomas and D. Bailey not even cracking the two deep ? Both were highly rated and D. Bailey looked ready to play as freshman per reports. Very surprising.

Dajon Terry has been that dude receiving the praise. Can't remember the media guy who said it earlier in the spring but the comments were he looked like a SEC DT.

I've heard multiple guys on multiple occasions on Volquest rave about Byron Young. They have used words like special, and unblockable. Also, when asked on the mailbag podcast, "name the five most talented players," he was the first one mentioned.

I think it's Byron Young that you're thinking of.

He is supposedly very fast off the edge, and has proven difficult for our guys to block.

He also has a great story. I want to say that two years ago, he was managing a Dollar General when he saw a flyer for open tryouts at Georgia Military College. He went to the tryout, had a good season, got an offer, and now has an opportunity to make a real name for himself.

I would be very happy if our DL/DEs were so good that we did not have to worry about a slant. Our opponent's QBs running for their lives and fumbling the football in the backfield would be a sight for sore eyes.

No I meant surprise he is behind Simmons and not starting.
I’m taking that as a good thing. He’s getting a lot of praise and STILL can’t start. He will get plenty of snaps tho. Seeing that depth chart on paper actually looks nice tho. Lots of experience and even 3 deep with Solomon, Big O and Bailey plus the best DLine coach in the business

Simmons is special, always has been. Weight issue, yes. However it's rare you find a young man with that size and that sort of fast twitch speed. He went to high school at Pearl Cohn in Nashviulle, was 360 or so lbs. while there, could dunk a basketball and ran on their sprint relay track team. If Garner can get in his head and dial him in, he's going to be fun to watch. I'm not surprised he's starting at all, I've been surprised he's not made a bigger impact than he has so far.

I'm pretty bullish on the D-Line, just based upon the fact that Garner has a track record as a great coach. Reports note that he has been riding Big O constantly, so he must see something in him.

I'm hoping he can have them playing the way Rocker did with some of the same guys two years ago. Good coaching can elevate the play of marginal talent sometimes, and I personally think that the DL has some solid talent.
