Here's the deal..You are the AD at a major FBS school and you have fired your HC...Who would you think is the ABSOLUTE best coach to go get?? And why??

Saban and why? Most would say NCs, but I think having 5 former assistants who are now head coaches is even more impressive, and that number is only going to increase if you look at the staff he has now.

I say Saban. Some coaches can recruit/evaluate the best players. Some coaches can develop the players they have. Saban qualifies under both categories. He finds the best, signs the best, and coaches them up.

Weren't Saban and Tressel on the same staff sometime along their careers, maybe as grad assistants. I thought I had read or hear that somewhere. Can you imagine those 2 together.

Harbaugh.

He is at almost every possible disadvantage (i.e. admission requirements, lack of tradition, etc) and has managed to surpass just about everyone's expectations.

This guy (Larry Kehres of Mount Union). Only 11 coaches have won 300 games, and it took him exactly 325 to hit that mark. Also consider that this state has a crapload of other schools that get first crack at in-state talent, and even those who transfer down have several options before hitting the D-3 level.

Also, for my entirely unsolicited opinion, the same things are being said about Jim Harbaugh that were said a few years back about Tyrone Willingham. Obviously Stanford under Willingham didn't have the same amount of success, but that's not the point.

Saban would get my vote. I take a lot of crap for it but I think Darth Visor still has a brilliant "football" mind though. That's not a popular statement among Vol fans, but I think the guy knows the game and has proven as much. His SCAR record means little to me as far as W's and L's. I just think the guy is a good 2nd. Saban however, is the total package and a hot commodity.
