Mullen???? Are you just batsheet blind????

Have you seen that team he's put on the field this year get the sheet beaten out of it for 2 straight weeks in his 9th year at MSU???

Mullen would be a GREAT OC....but that's it.....

I'm looking at the entire body of work. MSU is at the bottom of one of the deepest division in the country historically. Mullen has taken that program to places they hadn't been in 70+ years. The UGA and Auburn losses have been terrible, but I think he'll do good enough to turn it back around and find a way to 7 or 8 wins again.

"Not on uf/uga/uf levels YET" ... surely you jest

It'll be many years, but we're on the right path. The football program hadn't ever gotten much support. The Athletic Department has finally invested in the program and I think with the right coach we can take a major step to expecting 9-10 wins instead of 7. Will it be difficult? Sure. Anytime you try to reverse a century worth of what is considered the norm it'll be difficult to say the least.

Well, sir....I realize what kind of a program Miss. State is...have been watching the SEC since mid '70s....and have taken that into account...

Mullen has won a whopping 60% of his games...and is 30-37 in SEC competition....that's just a wee bit better than Jackie Sherrill did at Miss. State....

He's 5-3 against Ole Miss
He's 4-4 against Arky
he's 3-5 against Auburn
He's 2-7 against LSU...
he's 2-3 against aTm...
he's 0-8 against Bama...

IMO--that's not a very encouraging resume to think he could take our talent and do much, if any, better than 8-4 on a regular basis....

There's no doubt that he's a great developer of QBs...and a great OC....but just not who you want to invest your $$$ in to win SEC championships...:salute:

Trade Auburn, LSU, and A&M for Vandy, Mizzou, and South Carolina and his sec record would be 10 wins better minimum.

McElwain has been awful at times.
Sumlin as well. He hasn't developed players at all which might be his biggest program. The program is in a slow decline ever since Johnny left.

Honestly the only coaches that get positive grades in my eyes are Mason, Stoops, Saban, Smart, Mullen, and Muschamp.

Muschamp?

Muschamp?

Muschamp?

How do you get fired at Florida and get a positive grade?

Lol I was wondering when someone would call me out on throwing his name into the mix. Yes, he definitely stunk at UF, but I like what he's done at USCjr so far.

Of course you like what he's doing at South Carolina.

He's 0-2 against Kentucky

Kirby Smart, unfortunately.

Kirby had the good fortune of advantage of taking over a healthy program. He also has the advantage of being in one of the fertile recruiting areas in the country.

Other SEC coaches (outside of Saban) don't have it as good. Of the coaches that have started at a new school in the last 5 years all of them except Smart, either took over programs that were struggling (McElwain, Malzhan, Orgeron) or in a poor recruiting area or Both (Bielema, Jones, Stoops, Mason, Odom, Muschamp). Five of those coaches are on the hot seat (Orgeron, McElwain, Bielema, Jones and Odom).

Honestly, I blame it all on Alabama's dominance right now. Nobody can knock off the king, and it has all the other fan-bases jittery. Unfortunately, firing your coach just prolongs the process.

If you look at it rationally from outside the state of Florida, the injury bug bit Muschamp hard while he was at UF.

And it looks like history is repeating itself at SC. They've lost their best receiver (ankle/season), 3 two-deep o-line men (all lower leg injuries) and their best pass rusher (shoulder/season) in the last two games. They have less than 70 scholarship players that are healthy right now (Started the season with 72).

No...not necessarily....

You seem to insinuate that 10 more SEC wins would be proof that he is the guy....but that would only improve his average SEC record to 5-3 instead of 4-4....

He's 1-2 against SCe....
He's 1-2 against UGa...
He's 1-1 against Florida

So--he can't beat good Gamecock teams...
can't beat good UGA teams....
and is .500 against mediocre Florida teams...

And his SEC record is padded because he gets Kentucky every year from the East....

So--replace KY with SCe--or even Florida....and what do you think his record would be?

Is that what we really want? :salute:
