I really really really want Looney and Lyle, anyone else would just be icing on the cake. Who do you want, that we realistically have a shot at?

In order...

Looney
Lyle
Lindsey
Cofer

Those being the big 4, there's a secondary list of haas, beard, Richmond, couple Memphis kids etc. I'm really hoping for 2 off that list...we will know how serious looney is when he starts taking OVs. I think we have a very real shot at Lyle, just hope Indiana and Louisville fill up. Lindsey we have a good shot at as long as UNC or Kentucky don't offer. Cofer I like our chances with.

They keeping hanging in there with Looney and Lyle and that is encouraging. Keep thinking Louisville might be the biggest threat for Lindsey.

There were lots of reasons why not making the tournament this year hurts, but I am sure all these kids are getting pounded with "Cuonzo's never made the Dance" now more than ever.

Looney
Lyle
Lindsey
Cofer

Lyle is #1. Having an explosive PG would fix the offensive woes that have plagued Martin's team.

Looney #2.

Cofer #3.

I would love Jalen Lindsey. Really good player. But with Moore, Richardson, and Hubbs, he's not that big of a priority IMO.

Z, with a more explosive PG, do you think we would run more? Or is that just not Martin's nature?

I didn't watch enough games where we won more easily to know if it was from running breaks or just executing halfcourt really well. I guess the D would lead to run outs.

I think we would.

I think Martin wishes we'd run more, but when Golden is in a funk, he walks up everything.

True. I think we would be effective at running more. Could cause our defensive energy to increase even more.

If I had Jordan McRae, I'd run.

The problem is that he had no big man that can run the floor effectively. I believe after reviewing the season it's why we didn't always push the pace. Stokes is a halfcourt player.

true. maymon can be effective on a break. and I think we have some good shooters to do it. with our possible length on perimeter D next year it needs to be considered.

who will run point next year

Golden is the point guard. He's the best suited. He's earned it.

Hopefully, Robert Hubbs offset Golden's inconsistency.

Plus Golden has played in games where he was not 100%. His lateral quickness was exposed on defense. But when healthy he gets this team in another gear. Overall this team does need to speed it up on offense, but you have to have a good PG to initiate that.

A Wayne Chism or Ron Slay would have done wonders in that aspect.

Stokes runs the floor fine. Even tried to lead a few breaks himself when everybody else was standing around. He wants to run and get position deep. If we walk it up and go half court, he gets pushed out

Looney and Lyle and then fill in around there. Say we have Hubbs and Stokes still when they come in that's four of our starting 5. Cofer needs to be signed before he blows up. I think Lyle may play the 2 and 3 coming in. He's a legit 6'6. Hubbs at the two. Darius at the 1 then Looney and Stokes. That's a elite 8. Final 4 team.

Bingo! He may not be as athletic vertical but he can get out on the floor and move. We need more athletic guards around him and turn into a running team who creates off of turnovers.

Fwiw Quinn said he thinks instead of implementing zone he sees Martin adding a pressing trapping style to throw at teams and then revert to man...comparing it to VCU.

I'd take it.

I like it. That could work. We have the long-armed guys to bother people and get in passing lanes.
