Michigan has at least had the appearance of being competitive and top 2 in the Big Ten for a while now. But that also has to do with the Big Ten not really having much depth beyond three teams.

I don't think a win over Ohio State and a Big Ten title will save him now. People have lost too much respect for Big Ten football for a championship to be meaningful enough to save Lloyd Carr.
