Who Is On Coaching List?

The main name on the coaching list is Coach Martin. If the Vols win this last two games he is the winner and will be the coach next season. Any other name only matters if he doesn't so need to see what happens then get to a list.

UT will not hire an established coach. Why should they? Vol fans will support any coach UT trots out there. They could hit some AAU coach and Vol fans will knock the door down to see them play.

They'll hire a coach currently making about $750K and double his salary.

Agree.

Historically speaking, when have we not went the 'cheap' route on a basketball hire? I don't recall us ever hiring an established coach with a lot of name recognition. Kevin O'Neil is the closest I can think of.

Why would it be different now?

This isn't limited to basketball either.

I've said Tyndall for a while. I see him as the most viable option from the mid-major ranks. I see Michael White and Will Wade as young and exciting, but still don't meet my criteria if we were to have coaching search.

I've seen this tossed around and I agree with it. I would like I have a coach who is relatively young, been a HC for a minimum of 5 years and has got at least one NCAA tournament under his belt. If he has players in the NBA or has multiple tourney appearances then that is just icing on the cake.

I'm not saying Tyndall is a homer in hire or that he would even do well here, but he fits the criteria. I don't think he'd be a popular hire, but your going to hear his name come up more and more if a search is eminent.

I'm bring this back. I thought this back then and seems like the likeliest option right now "on the cheap." I hope Hart proves me wrong and ponies up the money to get someone big, but I have my doubts.

Boom? Jk, this was an educated guess given our resources and what I saw us going after back in February. Hate that Martin is gone because I felt that in time he could really win here, but glad Tyndall is on board now.
