Who Is On Coaching List?

1. Dean Lockwood= It would be interesting to see him bring the principles of PHS to the men's team.
2. Joe Dooley = One of the top assistants in the country and a Self protege who I think will be a head coach soon.
3. Quin Snyder= Has NBA and international coaching experience.

Thoughts?

Didn't Snyder get in trouble with the NCAA?

Bammers may want him gone but he has at least made the NCAA in his tenure there and has had more solid recruiting classes as well as a better overall record. Lets face it Bama is a football school and Grant has done a good job there.

Alabama has recruits within 2 hours of their campus. Alabama produces good players almost every year while TN east of Memphis does not. I can't see how anyone can say he has done well there. Gottfried took Bama to an elite eight.

The point is both of those guys eventually left, so at some point Smart will to. VCU is not, and never will be, a destination job. Just like Butler and Boise St. weren't either. It's all about timing with these types of guys.

Stevens went to the NBA, and peterson to Washington. Smart has already turned down UT, he's not interested in Tennessee.

he's a multimillionaire and has it absolutely made playing in front of full houses with Midwest kids that understand basketball and donor support that rolls around with him basically like his own entourage of buddies living out a dream, while basically having a lifetime contract.

Marshall's a prideful dude, he's a different kind of guy which is why many have passed him over. He's the type that would go take less money at a high major just to prove he can get it done with the big dogs. Not saying that will happen, but that's the kind of guy he is. If he sees a high major that he feels is a place he can win I see him leaving, and it may not ultimately be about money.

I like what I read on him, but my only question would be his ability to recruit on the SEC level to compete against UK & Fla.

You're not gonna out recruit Kentucky, so you may as well throw that out the window. He has a lot of ties to the southeast, and younger coaches like himself generally connect well with recruits. I think he could more than hold his own in recruiting.

I don't see Pitino leaving Minnesota after just one year...plus he is a young guy (31), that is making his name in basketball...and that requires success in either a basketball conference (B1G is more basketball oriented than the SEC) or at a traditional basketball school (i.e. one of the blue bloods, Indiana, etc.).

Some folks on here point to Cronin at Cincy...while good friends wiht Butch jones, I don't see Mick leaving Cincy for Tennessee...as far as beasketball goes, they are on par with facilities and recruiting base...AND Cincy probably has an AD that is more comitted to the basketball program than ours is.

So who does that leave...not real sure...do we look at Mid-majors head coaches (Smart would be awesome, as well as Marshall from Witchy State)...or go with big program assistants (I would take anyone in the Pitino, Callipari, Coach K, etc. coaching tree)...?

Let's face it gang, our AD is just not going to comit enough to basketball to invest $2 mill plus in a HC.

Thoughts?

What's your thoughts on Steve Wojciechowski, Duke Assoc Head Coach?

BTO convinced me. Go get Michael White as soon as possible. He's a guy that might be able to finally chase our Bruce blues away.

Nice find and suggestion.:hi:

But Shaka Smart does? Where is that logic?

Wichita State is perennially a better program than VCU. Plus, Smart is 35 and Marshall is like 50, so that's a huge difference. If Marshall were younger I'd be all for getting him, but due to his age and job, he's not leaving. Smart is a different story IMO.

Marshall has flat out said he's open to leaving

If Bruce is not rehired, then our list will be all the mid major coaches that got their team in the NIT this year.

One way I see UT being better for Pitino is because the Big Ten is so competitive. Like this year, you can have a good team and not have a winning record in conference. If he takes an SEC job, with good recruiting and coaching, he only has to compete against UK and UF. As I stated before, Cronin is a Cincy guy. He grew up there and coached HS there. Probably not leaving.

We need an up tempo game with great coaching, lots of folks want Bruce back, now who should be on the list?

Well Brad Stevens may be back in the college ranks since he was a bust with the Celtics. Could be a great look for us if we can't bring Bruce back.
