"I thank my close friends who have encouraged me when things were tough and celebrated many great victories with me. I thank Doug Dickey and Joe Johnson, two great men who believed in me and trusted me. I hope I've made them proud."

"I thank our fans who have supported me and our teams in Neyland Stadium, in Tempe, Arizona, with great victorues in Athens, Ga., Birmingham and Tuscaloosa, Ala., Gainesville, at Notre Dame, at Baton Rouge, and at Miami, and in Atlanta."

No love for Johnny Majors? You know... the guy that gave him a job at UT and hired him as a position coach and then promoted him to offensive coordinator?

I was also very surprised he didn't mention Majors. Despite what he did to Majors and however much he dislikes him; Seems he could still say "thank you" for hiring him.

I agree. I thought that it would have been a serious coup for him to have mentioned Majors.

he and Majors cannot stand each other.. There is no way he would thank him..

He should on the other hand have metioned Chavis and Cutcliffe for saving his job repeatedly..

He also needs to thank Randy Sanders for being a scapegoat and saving his job for 3 more years ..

Majors may be a Tennessee "legend" but he's also a bitter old drunk. If he had learned to keep his Jack Daniels under control and his zipper zipped maybe he would have lasted longer at UT. He had just as much ownership in his firing as anybody else.

:eek:k: YEP! The JD and running his mouth had more to do with him getting fired than Fulmer did.

Majors was a well knowm womanizer. If his defenses chased running backs as well as he chased skirts nobody would have ever gained a yard on us.

i was pretty young when majors was there. didn't knw this
