In the ESPN blue ribbon section for Tennessee they quoted coach Clawson say, "Watching them on film from last year I had certain expectations of things they would do well and things they wouldn't do well. I don't want to elaborate on this, but there's certain players you expected more from -- that, based on the film, you thought would be ahead of where they were. [But] I think there were more players that it was more a pleasant surprise, and especially a lot of the young guys."

I was wondering what players he is saying are not living up to the expectations. This of course doesn't mean the player will not be ready by he beginning of the season, but it makes you wonder!

I think he was telling some guys step up, or a young guy's taking your spot.

From spring practice and other reports my guess would be Chris Scott, BJ Coleman, and Austin Rogers. I think he just expected more from their production or hype and didn't see it on the practice field.

Now Come on BJ Coleman???
When has he seen him on film????
Now Austin Rogers I can see or maybe Brisco or Quinton Hancock....
The reason I say them is because nothing has been mentioned of them anywhere. All I hear about is Lucas Taylor, Gerald Jones, Paige, and Moore.
Just an Opinion???

Considering our starting punter is out on suspension, we all better hope so!

Oh dont worry about that I am sure that backup has been kicking since the day they found out and he will do just fine. Its been a long time since Tenn has not had a good kicker or Field goal kicker so dont worry about that.

They video practices and watch them. I'm sure Clawson had hours of practice video to go with the game films.

I think Rogers was hurt for part or all of spring practice but is possibly one of those being referred to. Briscoe and Hancock both got good spring reviews.

That's alot more fan talk than coach talk. Jones definitely seems to be someone who stands our but the others haven't been spoken of a whole lot more favorably than the first group you mentioned.

Paige may have taken a step back in the Spring and could also be one of the unnamed players. He supposedly took a nice step forward during bowl practices... Clawson would have had that video to review.

Coleman just seems to have been hyped up(maybe by Cutcliffe?) and just didn't show the star QB ability in the spring. Not to say he won't bring it in the fall or next year. I think Clawson and others expected more so far.

This is probably true of every team in the nation.

First name that popped into my head was Austin Rodgers because on ESPN first game of the season the commentators expected a lot from him and he did next to nothing, given his position on the offense.
