Who is “the guy” on this team?

Why do people keep saying Bituli because they want it to be true. He was just as guilty of hitting the wrong run fit gap too often and was bad in pass coverage.

He is young and can get better but I haven't seen the consistency to label him a potential all league performer in the future.
Your an idiot if you can't see the all- SEC talent in him. Sorry. It is what it is. Best player on the team outside of Trey Smith and Gaulden.

So the 98 team didn't have "one guy" who was the undisputed leader? A guy who allegedly broke tables in the locker room of the SEC championship game the year before?

Do you believe there is only "one guy" on the team who has passion ?
Breaking tables means nothing if the talent isnt there...
Its all about talent and how many seniors and juniors are playing on your team..
Its about a coach being able to put the pieces together...
No matter how good a QB is he cant be effective if the line cant block...
No matter how good a running back a person is, he cant be effective if the OL is weak...we have seen this for years...
Go back to spring practice of 2017 or fall camp and just look at the remarks people made about receivers ect.....how well did that turn out....
Its a team sport and everyone has to do their jobs well in order to win 10 games....
Receivers who are 6'6 are no good if the cant catch and are hurt almost all season....and so it goes for all the rest of the positions..

Way too early for this question. Hopefully we have real coaches now that can bring the talent out of these players. If that's the case, we need to wait and see who stands out, and more importantly, who shines in this system. It's going to be a new style of play, and how players adjust to it has yet to be seen.

Hopefully it’s JG. We’re going to need some serious clutch play if our Oline doesn’t show vast improvement.

In college football you can have a go to receiver but so often when the big games come around the defensive staff of the opposing team knows how to shut him down. Unless you have other ways of scoring you are pretty well done for....
Saban knew Hurts wasnt mobile enough for Alabama to be able to win and unless he used his backup who had speed Alabama would lose the championship game...The backup who had hardly played was the reason for the win...
Dabo and his D knew if they shut the Alabama running game down that they could win because Hurts would not be able to escape the speed of his defense....
Personally I think Alabama had all the pieces to win with skilled people on both O and D but Hurts was the weakest link...so shut down the run and Hurts was like a big statue back there...
Who do you thing broke tables that night?.......its all about the coaches decisions, all the player skills and senior leadership

Offense: Callaway, Jennings, Chandler, potentially JG.
Defense: Kirkland, Bituli, Warrior, maybe Taylor.

Those big O lineman and D lineman need the credit they are due because they get all the criticism they are due....everytime a great catch is made downfield or a great run is made that O line was responsible...its time to give credit to they guys in the trenches who make all the excitement we have possible...and again congrats to you Trey Smith...Be the leader of that line for us

I really hope we see some leaders emerge on both sides of the ball. I think JJ could be. If not him, then I want to see JG take the reins and step up. On defense, I hope its Bituli. I think the dude has some alpha dog in him.

JJ needs to stop the childish antics....
He is not the only one on the TEAM
I'd put a stop to that chest beating and drawing attention to himself immediately...
Can he be very good....only if he applies himself to his trade

Juaun Jennings loves being a VOL. I think he'll be a great leader for this upcoming season

Both Callaway and Jennings are play makers the big question is who can deliver the ball to them?

With those 2, just throw it up high if all else fails. They both come down with it 3:4 times. Every game from UGA on last year, I would sit in front of the TV and say "Just throw it to Calloway" ... "Why are we not targeting MC 8-10 times EVERY game"? Game after game.

That's one thing 'll give Dooley credit for. When the wheels came off his last season, at least he fed CP in every way imaginable.

Offensive Leader: Jennings
Defensive Leader: Warrior

They both have that dog in them. I love both of their attitudes on the field.

We aren't talking about physical production. We're talking about who is the Alpha Dog emotional leader.

"The Guy" doesn't have to be rah rah. Needs to be the guy that looks you in the eye and dares you not to do your best. Al Wilson is the standard to judge by.

Based on this criteria I would say the guys are Warrior and Trey Smith.

I understand and respect what your trying to say or get at. But I really wish people could tell the difference between being selfish antics, attention antics, and what is passion and energy. Whether some understand it or not that stuff is needed it's infectious and can fire teammates up. It leads to momentum.

But I do agree that there can be selfish antics that distracting and hurting the team more than helping. I would argue that DaRick was more that way than JJ. Jennings problem has been growing up off the field not necessarily on it
