Us or them? That’s what will decide this game. Can we force turnovers? Or will Hook let the moment be too big and try to make plays that aren’t there.

For the Vols, it has been a tale of two cities kind of thing.

In the first two games of the season, we were butterfingers: lost 4 fumbles, plus gave up 1 interception. But since then, in the last four games--in other words, since we got the QB position sorted out--just 1 fumble and 0 INTs given up.

On the season, Vols are -5 fumbles lost, +2 fumbles gained ... -1 interception lost, +7 interceptions gained. Net +3 in turnovers. But if you look at the situation just from game 3 to today, we're +8.

In other words, almost all the bad stuff happened in the first two games. Since then, it's been almost all good stuff.

Ole Miss is more evenly spread across the season to date. 1 fumble lost in each of their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th games, but 0 INTs given up. Meanwhile, they've recovered fumbles in every game but one, and have gotten 1 INT in three of their games. So their performance has been more steady across the slate. Net, they are -3 fumbles lost, +5 fumbles gained, and +3 interceptions gained. Overall +5.

So if you compare the two teams on the season, Ole Miss has a slight advantage (Vols +3, Ole Miss +5). But if you look at us lately, last four games, Vols have the advantage +8 to +3 for Ole Miss.

Go Vols!

Both teams have been very good at protecting the ball and picking up TO's. UT is 9:6. OM is 8:3. As mentioned above, UT has improved. In the last two games, OM has 3:1. UT has 4:0.

FTR, I don't think this will be the key difference unless one team commits 2+ more than the other.

Other things to watch-

Penalties- UT has suddenly become pretty good with only 4 in the last two games. Ole Miss is near the bottom of CFB with around 90 penalty yds per game.

Watch TFL's. UT is about mid-pack allowing them as is OM. I believe OM is mid-pack creating them while UT is 1st in P-5 in creating them.

Related to that- watch Corral's rushing numbers.
