Here is the link to a film clip from the Paul Finebaum show, where the bride and groom to-be discuss their, ahem, less than wise decision to schedule their wedding on the day of the Tennessee-Florida game: Who Gets Married On UT-UF Game Day? - University of Tennessee Official Athletic Site.

Of course, Butch drops in on set to surprise them with best wishers for a happy wedding day. Incidentally, it kind of looks like Paul at least momentarily put on an orangish tie.

If a Vol fan wed's on a UT/Florida game date, they must be a glutten for punishment, what else could it be?

I'm actually getting married downtown Knox on the BGSU game...pretty bummed that my ceremony starts at 4, but it was planned way before they announced kickoff times. And with the venue we wanted, downtown on a home game would be a nightmare anyways, so I guess it worked out. Going to be the first season opener I've missed in about a decade...not happy about it. But hey...at least it's not the Florida game.

Just cancel, IMO.

My cousin did and I had to attend. Hearing the vols lose while suiting up was a sad time.

My sister got married while we were playing Alabama in 2010. Its still the only Third Saturday in October game I've missed in my lifetime. When my wife was trying to pick out a date for our wedding her first question to me was, "Do you want to get married before or after football season? Because I don't want you miss any games this year." That solidified her as a keeper.......even though she is a Bammer.

Mine was actually going to be Sept 26 this year but when I saw it was the UT-UF game I moved it to Oct 3. My excuse? I get a medical infusion (remicade) on the 25th that would make me really drowsy on our wedding day. The real reason? Shiiiiiii... You already know lol. But I couldn't avoid a UT game entirely being that she wants an outdoor fall wedding.

My oldest is getting married the same day also only at 11 in the morning. Should be home by kickoff :)

I have to say, I attended a wedding on game day. It did help that it was a late game and the ceremony was at the tailgate that morning:)

Only non-southerners. You can never tell whose schedule synchs up here.

That's why you get married in the other three seasons. Anything else is disrespectful to your guests.

Full disclosure, I'll be at a wedding in Germany on the 26th.

Hoping for a night game, so my brother and I can polish off the night with some Red Bull cocktails, prepping for a midnight kickoff from Timmensdorferstrand!

I have some friends getting married that day. It kind of sucks, but the bride is a UT fan, so the game will be on at the wedding, apparently.

It was the only open date at the venue they wanted and could afford, so I don't mind too much when thinking of it that way.

I have to disagree, although I understand where you are coming from. The wedding is about the bride and groom, so anyone who is upset that the wedding wasn't scheduled around their priorities and schedule should probably not go, anyway.

It's cool that you get to go to a wedding in Germany, though. At least there's a cool experience associated with it.

I'm 99% sure this whole thing is for media attention. You plan your wedding in FL the same day as the UF game? So you are going to be in FL, but the ceremony will (un)conveniently be during the game? Not buying it. Also, the fact that they wrote into the Finebaum show about the whole thing.

I thought June was the choice month for weddings because it does not interfere with College sports.

Bye week this year UGA week next year?Too many other Saturdays to choose. What will you be doing for anniversary?

The game isn't played on the same date every year. Next year their anniversary will be on a Monday (2016 is a leap year). The next time their anniversary will be on a Sat is 2020 (I think).
