Who gets fired first when AD is hired?

This is not a one coach problem....

Tennessee is 113th, last among SEC schools in Directors' Cup

Serrano has had a LOOONG time to fix his issues. They better be superb this year or I think he is heading back to west coast. I think his style of play is what is holding us back but we shall see.

Holly may have a great recruiting class this year but you have to look at the entire work she has done....WE ARE NOT RANKED! She HAS to be fired and I doubt she makes it to end of year if new AD comes in and replacement coach is availbable. Signing class is already inked.

Butch will decide his own fate this season. But he gets one more. To be honest he has earned it.

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that the first person fired from the Athletics Department will be a communications person who puts something out there that the new AD doesn't want made public.

Right now the hot seats belong to Warlick and Serrano but I think the new athletic director will give both of them 1 more season to evaluate both of them.

JMHO.

Serrano, I have no idea about baseball expectations. I would assume a "hold" there because of ...

Warlick, it's seems pretty obvious that she is not able to coach-up players to perform even at their talent-level, much less exceed them. This is the biggest replacement need atm. But, I don't understand the "emotional / political / honor Pat" influence enough to know if it can be done or not. That component may keep her around for another 1-2 years until we fully collapse.

Barnes, I think is safe for 2 more. The guy looks like the "on-court" opposite of Warlick to me. He knows what he's doing in prep and game time. His recruiting needs some serious mojo. But, if not, he's a stable force to at least placehold for a replacement who can get us to the next level.

Jones, he's safe after 2017, unless he lays a 7-5 egg IMO. Then the AD may have his hand forced. 8-4 puts him legitimately on the 18' hot seat, and anything more keeps him off it IMO. His buyout and collateral from "brick by brick" have earned him enough staying power.

IMHO, I would list the risks in this order 1.WBB 2.Baseball 3.FB 4.BB.

I hope they are all here for a long time. Because that means they are having success. Now for the truth...they're all toast!

No one does and no one cares...small money

Well there a lot of people including myself who do care about the baseball program!! Just because you and your nobody attitude does not speak for all of us. It don't have to be a money maker to be important to a lot more than you seem to realize. Yes Vol football is the cash cow but everything is not football. I just happen to one of many who does care about all of the programs. If the cash cow needs fixed and I think if it does may not today but the coach better step up. His salary alone would pay for most of the programs that you say nobody cares about

What to be competitive and not to ever lose to Vanderbilt and South Carolina?
Outside of Bama, they were in every game this season. Not to ever is a very long time.

Look at where we were pre-Butch and where we are now. I don't think his seat is hot unless disaster happens next year. I'm sure our definitions of disaster may differ.

Likely that CBJ goes after next year if he finished 7 - 5 or worse as I predict. He is to much of a control freak to hire the best available and that will ultimately be his undoing.

Nope, and if you paid attention to what Doug Matthews had to say you wouldn't think he was any more of a control freak than any other college coach. Coach Matthews said CBJ absolutely did not micro manage his coordinators. Matthews knows more about the program than anyone here does and he has always pointed out what he thought CBJ should improve on. I will take his word on this.

Holly will be first since her season will end right about the time we get a new AD. Serrano is good until next year and CBJ has a couple more at least. JMO
Holly isn't going anywhere anytime soon. She and staff just assembled the number 1 rated class for 2017.

Holly won't be dumped until seasons end if it happens
Jones will be here
I know nothing about the baseVols

Neither Butch or Holly are going to be fired.

Baseball season begins next month, so it doesn't appear that the baseball coach will be fired either.

Not trying to be argumentative, but do you believe the SEC is even as difficult as it was under Dooley? And even then, we just had a schedule where we played 13 games, only 3 of which were outside the state of TN. THREE. This team against a normal SEC sets all-time loss records at UT.

It is probably going to go like this:

- Blackburn hired
- Fires no one
- Teams have solid seasons but not good enough for some on this board
- Blackburn fires no one
- Fans start "Fire Blackburn" threads

Why would anyone want this AD job where fans think they know better what to do than those that are hired to make such decisions?

If Blackburn is smart he understands that Tennessee fans like him right now but will not if he doesn't do what they think he should do.

Remember what Peyton said ... it's true.

Butch Jones won't be fired for 7-5 season, I'm not so sure a 5-7 season will get Jones fired....he's got a couple of years regardless

Holly need's to go at season's end, just don't know who (the coach) the Lady Vols need to replace her with, however.

If the attendance goes down in Neyland stadium, I believe they will be forced to fire coach Jones. I think 8-4 this year, hope I'm wrong though.

I agree that does need to happen. It probably won't given her recent recruiting and a new AD coming in. If she were to go, I think there would be no problem filling the job with a great coach given the program's incredible history.
