Who gets Ewers?

Agree this draft is weak in terms of QBs

Even with that, he is projected to be the 8th-9th QB taken. He could move up/down with a good/bad Pro day and Combine.

Usually that works out to a 5th or 6th round draft position.

Once you reach the 4th round, the contract values don't really change that much even at the late 7th round.

Basically, if he's taken in the 4th he would get a 3 year contract for about $5 million including signing bonus

Looking at the numbers, honestly if someone will pay him $4-$6 million to play another college season he would be a fool not to take it. That would basically be how much he is paid for the next 3 years on an NFL contract

That's why my first post led with it depending what kind of draft grade he got after the combine and pro day. If he is told that he is likely a Day 3 pick and some school (ND?) comes calling with a crazy offer, then I would agree he should stay another year.

But if he looks like he will be a Day 1 or 2 pick, then IMO he should go. It isn't only about the first contract in the NFL, it's getting to that second deal which is where the real money is, and going in gets him one year closer to that.

Everything I see is that Notre Dame is willing to spend big for him and since he probably wouldn’t get drafted until the 3rd or 4th round he will make more in college then the pros next year.
The difference is night a day. If someone is going to give him $6M for one year in college or he goes pro and gets $5M for multiple years---pretty easy decision

Why would he leave Texas? Has Texas publicly addressed going to Manning? If I'm Ewers I enter the draft. He might actually be the best prospect in the draft, especially since this is a very QB light class. He is a very solid QB and has the tools to play in the league.

ND would shell out 4/5 million to have him for a season? Maybe, but it's a brand new system, coach, players and continuity. It may not work at all, or take nearly the whole season to build the continuity.

I understand and appreciate Arch Manning's decision to stay and the Manning family in general, because they are displaying loyalty and staying true to their word, when NO ONE does this anymore. I don't understand for his career's sake why he didn't leave though. There is a respectable way to transfer. Just issue a public statement that is heartfelt and just move on. No one would care after a day's time. What Cam Ward did to his team, in my opinion, may have a lasting stench.

Tx probably isn't going to pay him or, specifically, not going to pay him fair market value. They had a plan in place for the transition to Manning. Ewers has no leverage to compel TX to pay him close to his value or guarantee him any playing time.

This topic may take a turn.
ESPN insider Adam Schefter reported on NFL Live ahead of Week 18 that Sarkisian is a name to keep an eye on in the coaching cycle as there could be more than a half-dozen opening forthcoming at the conclusion of the regular season and the following days and weeks.

"I would expect some teams to call and inquire about the Texas head coach, Steve Sarkisian, who's drawn some interest from the NFL level," Schefter reported.

Is Sark darts for the NFL we may be asking where Arch Manning ends up.

Leaving college gets him 1 yr closer to second NFL contract, which dwarfs any NIL $$$ if he is a starter or high end backup....

While I think Ewers should go to the NFL, the Rashada mention makes me wonder if GA might make an offer for Ewers?

Kirby likes game manager QBs and they signed the Branch boys.

Rashada is gone. If they recruit over Stockton, who has shown already he can rightfully compete for #1, he possibly would also transfer.

A 3rd or 4th round pick doesn’t make that much in the pro’s. So ya it is an easy decision. A 3rd - 4th round draft pick can expect 4.5- 6mill plus signing bonus. Now I’m no mathemagican 6 mil for one years is a lot better the 6 mil for four.

I'm seeing a potential $5-6M NIL for Ewers if he stays. If he were drafted in the second round, he's likely getting close to that with WAY fewer expectations + some kind of signing bonus.

Staying in college, someone wants him to be a "franchise QB" while going pro he would probably sit behind someone getting a little older and have time to learn the NFL.

I'm not sure he's a "franchise QB" in college currently, much less the pros. Given the chance to earn the same money with less pressure and hone his QB skills in the NFL, it's a no brainer for me to hit the draft.

Ewers isn't gonna get 5-6 mil as a rookie in the pros. Right now, he probably looking, at best, 2nd round. More likely closer to the 3rd round. Which means teams will view him either as a developmental QB or as a primary backup.

The main concern is injury. He's already missed a bunch of time to injury already. You would think he would ask whatever college team that wants him to pay for an expensive insurance policy.

Watching the Texas-ASU game, I found it hard to believe a program would pay 6 mil for Ewers, but the price of quarterbacks has reached insane levels. I will say that he closed strong.
Ewers is a very good college QB. IMO, you would be hard pressed to find 10 QBs with a better stat line than him, going into the 2025 season. He would be far the best portal QB in this year's portal class too. I thought Mateer was super overrated. Didn't play any good teams whatsoever.

Notre Dame has been the rumor but John Brice says it's not happening. We shall see, but Brice is as solid as it gets. He's pretty plugged in at Notre Dame.

I know programs are deficienct in places everywhere as evident by last night when PSU had negative receiving yards....how does UGa not offer Ewers or Arch for next year???? They have everything in place other than a QB and we saw Stockton "excel" at the bowl game.

Since Texas has definitely decided to go the Arch Manning route and Ewers has another year of eligibility where do you think Ewers lands? Day has been singing his praises since beating Oregon and discussing the Texas matchup so I have no doubt the Buckeyes will make a play. They already have the relationship with Ewers and Will Howard has no more eligibility. I am also reading Bama, Oregon and Georgia want him so it may come down to money.

Of course, as a Tennessee fan I do not want him at UGA or Bama but would not be surprised.
Kentucky to pay 12$mill/yr

Gimme a T for Texas.. gimme a T for Tennessee. Screw the Yankees. No to ND, OSU, PSU. SEC beats the heck out of each other. Big 10 plays nobody's.
