Who gave the money?

I have heard most of these transactions run thru casinos, who operate under pretty secretive laws. Someone makes a deposit, receives a credit card, then gives the card to another party who cashes it. Don’t think casinos operate under the same 10k rule as banks.

Assuming that none of the coaches were rich enough to draw $75, 000 or so out of their bank account, who gave the money?

Are one or two of our boosters going to be embarrassed when the facts are all in?
Wasn't there a story a few months back about some assistant trying to expense a trip to a club? Were they dumb enough to draw cash directly from AD accounts for it?

"Can I ask where the $75,000 was first mentioned? Not challenging it; I just can’t find where this surfaced. "

No real basis for the amount. I've seen it and $85K used in other threads so I used it for this one.

It wouldn't surprise me if there is some kind of commodity exchange in CFB where the market value of a 4star LB might be $75K, a 5star QB might be $300K, etc.

The point is there has to be a money trail. I would think some investigative journalism would quickly identify the bad players.

Don't know why I think that. Investigative journalism can't seem to pin the tail on the donkey where politicians are concerned.

Ok, thanks. I tried to stay on top of threads, but they were moving too quickly.

It's true. There was an OL recruit from Texas that went to Ole Miss a few years ago. He was paid via casino chips.

Thank, I guess the rumors I have heard are unfounded. Maybe like about half those on here😄

Not commenting on the rumors, who did what, etc. Don't know anything about all that. Just familiar with the regulations.

I'm guessing there's money laundering and all kinds of stuff going on in casinos because of all the cash they handle. Which is why they are regulated by the feds (FINCEN - Financial Crimes Enforcement Network) for suspicious transactions.

Someone explain to me why our assistants would be tied this closely to the money.

It's obvious the bag man exists for a reason. You have one contact with the details of what the player is requesting and the football coaches never deal with that side of the shadiness.

This is some Bush league crap we were pulling.
What is really bush league, is the fact that we were getting played by recruits! I don’t even want to know how many took the money, knowing they weren’t coming to Tennessee, knowing there was nothing the coaches, boosters or bagmen could do about it, after the fact. In hindsight, all these big time recruits that played Tennessee fans on social media, were only doing so to make it look like they were considering Tennessee, only to take the money and run. I can only imagine the jokes, going around in recruiting circles, between these players. God we are the laughing stock of SEC football, the coaching world, the recruiting world and fandom.
🤦‍♂️
gbo.
