Who else would have rioted?

What other fan base would have rioted over Greg schiano being hired to coach the football team?
We have to be champions of something.

I’m sure a few teams would’ve welcomed the hire, I’m just not sure who they are.
Most other schools smart enough not to entertain it. Don't see Maryland or any other past/present schools showing interest. I do think that Rutgers would have been a good re-hire a few years ago, and maybe again soon...that's about the only one I see. He is the only Rutgers coach with NJ HS ties to ever keep talent in state, and had good results.

You need to get in the Delorean and come back from the past to the present.

The fact is that this was initiated by a single sports writer or blogger, that I will not name but will say he is not from Knoxville. Before he goes on a rant about Schiano, who by the way has never been included in what happened by any authorities or investigative bodies, .. before that my guess is that most people had no idea he even coached at PSU. Then we had someone paint that stupid rock with attacks on the man. This coupled with a bunch of ignorant (and I don't mean that as an insult but just that they didn't know anything other than what this sports writer claimed) fans panicked and the firestorm started. I believe it got so out of hand that the mob might have stoned someone if they had disagreed in public.

Now as for this same situation playing out at another school, it very well could have.
And the lesson learned.... don't believe what you read online or see in the news until you can verify it for yourself
and even then count to 10 before commenting publicly.

The thing that tells the tale is when Meyer was suspended, and Schiano was not even considered as the guy to fill in, while Meyer told the world how ready he was for the job here and what fools we were not to want him.

The UTAD had zero to do with the Grumors. Those were birthed on message boards and died on message boards.

Long live MIT Beaver, the greatest troll there ever was, or ever will be.

For the most part, you are correct. The UTAD F'ed up and didnt put those to rest. However, the Grumor on Schiano Sunday morning was just an UTAD smokescreen to get Currie and the gang to Columbus and bring back Schiano....

After the UT fiasco there's no way Meyer could have named him interim HC.

No reason not to. Urban referred to him as
an elite person, elite father, elite husband, elite friend and elite football coach.

Urban nor OSU had any reservations about hiring him for one of the top 2 assistant jobs on the staff. That shouldn't have stopped them. The irony with Meyer and assistant coaching decisions shouldn't be lost.

You'd swear someone burned a few mattresses or something. My only response is why didn't someone else hire the hot commodity that was Greg Schiano.. The powers that be thought you'd get behind another dud of a coaching hire and prepay for your tickets and donation. Fans didn't tow the line. Good for the fans..

Haslam wanted Schiano, Curry was the hand puppet charged with running a sham search before hiring him. So, Haslam needs a coach for the Browns now, Schiano is available, problem solved.

Look up "mob mentality".

Or just maybe OSU's administration and head football coach were exposed as frauds during the Zach Smith debacle and subsequent Meyer suspension. And just maybe they did not think it would be prudent to put Schiano at the reigns because of his involvement with the PSU scandal and the extra attention and subsequent inquiries that were going to occur.

But by all means blame it all on Tennessee fans.
