Who else would have rioted?

Sadly the fanbase only had one good "riot" in them, and they rolled over and presented their collective genitals in a show of unanimous submission when the next loser was foisted upon them.

What other fan base would have rioted over Greg schiano being hired to coach the football team?
We have to be champions of something.

I’m sure a few teams would’ve welcomed the hire, I’m just not sure who they are.

The fact is that this was initiated by a single sports writer or blogger, that I will not name but will say he is not from Knoxville. Before he goes on a rant about Schiano, who by the way has never been included in what happened by any authorities or investigative bodies, .. before that my guess is that most people had no idea he even coached at PSU. Then we had someone paint that stupid rock with attacks on the man. This coupled with a bunch of ignorant (and I don't mean that as an insult but just that they didn't know anything other than what this sports writer claimed) fans panicked and the firestorm started. I believe it got so out of hand that the mob might have stoned someone if they had disagreed in public.

Now as for this same situation playing out at another school, it very well could have.
And the lesson learned.... don't believe what you read online or see in the news until you can verify it for yourself
and even then count to 10 before commenting publicly.

There were several of us on here who brought up the fact of the deposition (well before Schiano Sunday) that hinted Schiano knew something at PSU. The UTAD could have done PR work on the front end and got ahead of the story but they threw a Gruden smokescreen and used a UT hater (Wolken) to do PR after the fact.

Haslam and Currie F'ed up the hire so bad.

Of course, Richard Travis (what an appropriate first name) blew up the shoddy work of the UTAD

The UTAD had zero to do with the Grumors. Those were birthed on message boards and died on message boards.

Long live MIT Beaver, the greatest troll there ever was, or ever will be.

Any fanbase would have been very disappointed with a Schiano hire.

However, only marquis schools would've revolted in such fashion. Can you imagine the outcry if Bama, UGA, or Clemson hired someone like that?

It's been almost a year, just let it go.

Oregon fans did the same when he was presented as a candidate there. Didn’t get the same media attention...I don’t think they paint rocks up there...

Glad you have an opinion. Unfortunately, Freak won't let me tell you where to put it.

Schiano’s name was floating out there a few days before the news broke of his imminent hire. Folks were already upset with the search development anyway. Once that name became more likely Vol Twitter went crazy and rightfully so.

It’s a good thing we still have personalities who aren’t afraid to speak up.

No one rioted. Go work on a jigsaw puzzle, or something.
The students would have staged a massive protest mark my words if Schiano had been hired. If he right now was the coach would we be 4-5 right now or worse or would we possibly be 5-4??
