I'm sure this has already been discussed at some point but I'm a relatively new poster, so please, be gentle, lol.

My question is, regardless of who the coach is, CPF or otherwise, does anybody think we'll get to see some of the younger blood hit the field this year.
I know about Phil's loyalty to upper classmen but with the season in the tank for the most part and the realization that those older boys aren't getting the job done, isn't time to see what Paige, Poole, Donald, Evans and the like can do?

Heck, I'm even for letting Maples getting a few looks.
I love the Vols and really just need something to get excited about on saturdays again. Just seeing something new would be a start.

Agian, new to the nation, just thought I'd start a new topic...

I think anybody who hasn't played yet should get the chance. They certainly couldn't do any worse than the ones who have been playing and we might find a sleeper.

Agreed, from everything I've read, he has the best grasp of the offense, just not the arm of Crompton or Stephens. Not taking anything away from Stephens as he's done a decent job but we might as well see what Coleman can do. Honestly, Phil (i know he prefers Phillip to Phil, but I prefer winning to losing, so we can't always get what we want) might as well throw caution to the wind and see what happens.

I would like to see Berry get some more snaps on offense. Carl Pickens did and it seemed to work fine.

I would like to see Taureen Poole(sp?) get some time at tailback I have heard great things about him and I would also like to see PJ Coleman. I think from what I have seen Stephens is just an average QB.

I wouldn't say Stephens is just average. He's learning on the job after being thrown into the fire and still has potential. I do not by any means want to see him on the beach for the rest of the season. I just think at this point why not look at everything on a trail by fire basis. A lot of players look great in practice and then stink it up in games, and vice versa.

Me either, as of right now he looks below average.

Good point VOLintheATL. I guess my scale for judging talent has been skewed by watching Crompton play!

yes typo BJ.

That is how I see it with Stephens. If it was not for Crompton looking so bad the first few games then I would not think as much of Stephens. I mean he is not thrown any INT's even though some of them should have been but he seems to throw alot of balls that are catchable but put the receivers in horrible situations to make anything happen.

I would love to see Chris Donald on the field. Just let him go out and see what he can do. He will learn from his mistakes and only get better with PT. I would like to see Gerald Williams more as well.

I think this statement is exactly why we need to keep playing Nick, he is very young and inexperienced. I think it's way too early to tell how good he can be.
